3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of Hydes. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Thin, sticky, lasting, clotted cream coloured head. Fusty banana. Toffee apple. Brown sugar. Taste is initially sweet. Then mostly dry spiciness. Chew on the palate. Finish is banana Toffo sweet. Never had this before. Is it supposed to taste like a Doppelbock? Anyway, it does.

Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours a transparent amber with a layer of off white head. Aroma of dark fruits and malts. Taste similar with enough balance between the sweetness and malts.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the best malt forward beers I’ve had. Really well balanced with plummy fruits and a light hop touch. In fact the whole beer has a lightness of touch that is very appealing. One of those happy misreads between aroma and expected taste! Slightly foamy palate but a minor gripe.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
One finger head, light cherry brown. Nose has floral fruity hops, which translates nicely to the palate. Rich creamy body, tinge of bitter on the after taste. Really well done.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brown reddish color with a small off-white head that keeps a small lace for a long time. Aroma is too complex and something different, I couldn’t identify besides caramel, malty and burned sugar, there are some fruits that I can’t remember, really amazing aroma! Flavor is quite sweet with the same notes as aroma but not too impressive, hints of caramel, burned sugar, citrus and again something else. Low to medium carbonation with a medium body and a sweet finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thick caramel head with good retention, deep brown color, pleasant roasted malt nose with a hint of nuts, spice, and pinewood, medium to medium-high carbonation, crisp but slightly watery mouthfeel. Very good.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Large head with bubbling brown body. Higher carbonation level than most brownies. This better has a slightly astringent flavor which may be from the choice of a singular hop, the Citra.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz Bottle. The pour was a dark caramel brown with a large (3-4 finger) light brown sudsy head that lasted pretty much throughout, reducing slightly to a large cap and had good spotty lacing.
The aroma was of a sweet toasted dark bread malt, light resin hops and a doughy yeast along with notes of toffee, coffee, and dark fruit (plums).
The taste was lightly malty sweet with a pinch of toffee from the get go, progressing with a light roasty coffee presence and a mildly bitter hoppy ending. The flavor lasted an average time following the swallow, with a mildly roasty sweet fruity taste left behind.
Mouthfeel was almost medium in body with a thin dry texture and a mild carbonation.
Overall this was a very tasty and well balanced Brown Ale, which had a smooth and roasty aftertaste that just left you wanting another sip... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
So for a regular old brown ale, this thing is pretty decent on any level. I may not love it, but it’s got some intensity, medium to full body.... It pours deep and murky, dark brown with a light khaki head that’s holding on halfway through the pint. The aroma is better than most brown ales, with a nice complexity. Caramel sweetness mixed with a mild zest, chocolate notes and creamy smooth balance... medium black licorice (and i hate black licorice, but it totally works here), also light hopping notes, mild faint citrus. Flavor is full and healthy, sweet caramel and mild, mild bittering hops and mild noticeable citrus. Chocolate presence but not overpowering... and still finishing with a light caramel note. Really really enjoyable. The body is a fuller side of medium, but not overdone. Honestly, this is probably one of the better brown ales I’ve had. Seriously, well done Anchor. You guys nailed it.
