3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz single from "Lifesource". Salem. $1.59
Slightly hazed, hazelnut brown beer with a large frothy creme coloured head.
Simple English style malt aromas..hay,caramel and nuts
Very English style taste..mostly caramel, nutty malts..some small sense of grassy hop..but overall malty
Ok palate on this one..gets a little watery near the end..but thats totally within style.
I gave this more overall than my other scores suggest because this ggot the trad brown ale down to a tee.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a dark ruby red with a substantial lasting head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor is well balanced between the toasted malts and the hops making this a very drinkable brown ale. Hopefully more brewers will experiment with this Citra hop. This beer would pair well with roasted chicken or beef.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
dark and hoppy, nice and unexpected combo... first come the fruity hops, later on roasted malts and a bit chocolat and a bit coffey and hints of bread... bitter and a bit sweet with a medium long bitter finish, milky texture... a bit to light

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of molasses, almonds, citrus hops and chocolate. Appearance is dark brown with substantial tan head. Flavor is malt forward with a light citrus presence throughout; the finish is slightly sweet and citrusy. Palate is creamy. Another well crafted Anchor beer, and a pretty good brown ale.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown, solid creamy tan head. Caramel, pine tree, some fresh herbal notes, cherry, nutty. Very nice. Smooth body, developing nicely in the mouth. Pleasant roasted taste, light bitter. Unfortunately there?s also a medicinal dry taste throughout. Citrus hops? And the body is quite thin. At only 6% the alcohol is quite noticable. Decent brew, not blown by it though. (33cl bottle)

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is a pretty chestnut brown with a white head of many sized bubbles. Very mild aroma with a nutty flavor that’s a tad too sweet with an unfortunate metallic twinge. This is a drinkable beer for sure but a flawed one.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Aroma seems to have more hop then toasted/chocolate notes. Flavor is much the same, also has an undesired fruity type ester I’m just not into. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, just doesn’t strike me as a really good brown ale, I’d prefer less hop flavor in this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle. Pours deep coppery brown with initially fluffy dirty white head. Aroma of molasses, caramel, chocolate, and a slight bit of citrus in the background. Smooth malty taste, full of deep choc flavours - interesting bitterness to finish thanks to the citra.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours clear ruby with perfect off white head and great retention. Aroma is ctira hop gooseberry and lychee, brown sugar, hint of fresh raisin. Taste is much more toasty than the aroma, nice interplay of caramel and berry notes. Body is full, rich, average carbonation, big mouthfeel, clean berry finish. Overall, probably my favorite beer from Anchor.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 Bottle @ The BeerMongers... Poured an ideal, deep, hazy brown with a thin tan head. Nutty, malted sweet, a hint of toastiness. Hardly any hop flavor, low bitterness. Mostly big malt flavor that really wrapped around the palate. Cocoa powder, buttery caramel, and a slight roast.
