12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours brown with a thick, lacy, light tan head. Aroma of caramel plus light chocolate/nutty malts and citrusy hops. Flavor about the same. Average texture. A good beer for the style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Ölrepubliken, Göteborg, Sweden. Clear chestnut, medium beige head. Nutty and caramelly malt aroma with some floral hops (Citra, really?). Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi sweet, low to medium bitterness. Quite tasty.

I didn't expect it to be so hoppy but it's still really good. It's nice, dark and bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer pours a medium brown color with a tan head. The aroma has a mix of toffee and some pine from the hops. The flavor has quite a bit of pine and resin from the hops, as well as some light bread and toffee. There is also some cream in the flavor, but what really stands out is the hop character. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Reddish brown in color with generous quantity of head.
Aroma: Dominated by sweet toffee malt aroma, hints of citrus and tropical fruit.
Taste: Big malt flavor with good bitterness to keep the maltyness at bay. Finishes with some of the fruit detected in the aroma. Moderate levels of carbonation and dryness keep this beer from being cloyingly sweet.
Overall: an excellent brown in my opinion, definitely recommended.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Rich, nuanced, shows a lot of depth. Sweetish, and very flavourful. Definitely one of my favourite beers I’ve ever had. Re-rate: I guess I allowed my enthusiasm to get the better of me. Still really like this, but it’s not a 5/5 as my original rating indicated.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2013 This is the best brown ale I’ve had. Chocolate roasted malts aroma. Dark brown colour with off white head. The texture is velvety and smooth. The taste is sweet chocolate, a touch of hops and citrus. Awesome beer. Rerate. Still quite good but I get more hops In the aroma this time.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
A really interesting and delicious brown. The pour is a dark, ruby red with a thick yellowish beige head. Good retention and nice sparkly carbonation. The nose has a big toffee and caramel sweetness along with the awesome Citra hops. Big resin and grapefruit notes and floral characteristics. The flavor is a bit muted and mild compared to the nose. Light and grainy malts with a sweet, lightly bitter hop. Lacking completely in the body and missing the toffee and nutty notes of a good brown.

Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. A dark brown beer with copper highlights. It has an unusual sweet malty, chocolate and nutty flavour with a sugary finish.
