3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I’ve had this beer several times in the last month. It’s rotated in at my local. When I first had it I really liked it. It was a little sweet but not too hoppy or sour. The taste was smooth and had a surprisingly Belgian quality for a local beer. What’s interesting is that I don’t think it sits in the keg well or maybe the kegs are a little inconsistant. It’s gotten sweeter and sweeter over the last week and the aroma has gone from rich caramel to a little lifeless. At first I thought it could just be one beer or maybe my pallet getting used to it, but it’s been consistant for a the last 4-5 days. I meant to ask when they last changed the keg but this place is pretty busy so I assume they go through a keg every few days.
I definitely would have given it an 8 for aroma and taste after the first few I had but downgraded because of my recent tastings. I still like it, just not like I did and it is good to see an American brewery toning down the hops and creating a more drinkable brew. Since is supposed to be their original recipe, I’m guessing that is how the early US micro’s were brewed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle. Dark brown pour with lots of red in it. Moderate head. Aroma is west coast hops and dark malt. Taste is more like one of those aggressively hopped reds. Wife said it tasted sour, but I think that was just the grapefruit note in the hop mixed with the darker malt sweetness. Whatever it is, I enjoyed it even if she didn’t. More flavour than usual for a brown.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Roasty malt aroma ruins any chance of appreciating citra. Seems pointless. Bit of smoke, not entirely bad, but not going to finish.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled 2YX (Whatev that means)
Pours a nice cinnamon brown with some etched surface foam that is oat colored. Smells of toasted oats, some malt syrup, smacks cereal, and bit of cardboard. Smells sweet. Flavor is toasted and sweet oats, some cola, some bakin soda flavors. The body on this is surprisingly empty with carb and an off dry finish. I’m not impressed ewith this beer.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer is sweet and the alcohol shows itself even being low. I tasted caramel and a little bit bread. Sweet aroma.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle, 0.355 l - BBE 9/2015, from Alko, 20131129) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, fruitiness and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, molasses, raisins and bitterness. Afteraste had caramel and bitterness. Weird brew. Tastes a bit like oxidised bitter even though this should be a quite fresh bottle.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled Alko. Clear deep copper color, steady beige head. Caramel, some faint hoppyness, perhaps a bit toffee. Light to medium-bodied, fizzy. Coffee, toasted toffee, nutty and bready. Not very sweet. Some lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Somewhat a bit too simple for my liking.
