COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewmaster Mark Carpenter’s unique recipe for Brekle’s Brown—a tip of the hat to our first brewmaster—looks to both the past and the future. Mark’s special blend of roasted malts, inspired by the all-malt brown ales in Anchor’s brewing archives, gives Brekle’s Brown its coppery brown color and its unusual depth of flavor—richness and complexity without heaviness. For brewing and dry hopping, Mark has chosen a single, American hop variety called Citra. The subtly entrancing flavors and aromas of this distinctive new hop perfectly complement the unique maltiness of Brekle’s Brown.

Doesn't really have the nutty character I've come to expect from my favorite browns, but this malty gem is wonderful and clean on the palette ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle at home. Dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Light to medium body with low carbonation. Pretty sweet with some bitter tones. Caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, malts and spices. A tad too sweet for me.

12 oz. bottle at home. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium sized khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have mild roasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, light nutty character and some citrus hops, interesting to try, but browns are not my favorite and I am not the biggest fan of roasted malt and citrus.

Crimson, strong beige head. Roastiness, toffee, dark fruit on nose. Full-bodied, dark fruit, caramel, coffee, roastiness. Finishes lightly roasty. Very nice.

Bottle as a gift from Helsinki. BB 4/2016. Translucent reddish brown colour. Head is big and fluffy, colour is beige. Nose is quite interesting: nuts, figs, prunes, fruitcake, marmalade, faint roastiness, and also some more grassy than citrusy hops. Taste is less intriguing, while similar, it has this dry metallic thing going on that I can’t enjoy much. On the palate it’s soft and somewhat thin, with very little carbonation. Finish is abrupt and watery. Overall... Rather strange. But not bad.

Medium brown pour, tan head. Nose is roasted malts. Bittersweet. Middle is balanced between malts and subtle hops. Finish is slightly nutty and malty at the same time.

Tap at Shep on 1/31/12. Real pretty brown mahogany. Dense off white head lacy. Toasty malt nose with nice hop presence. Real nice flavor. Nice palette, hoppy, malt profile finishes quick leaving a hop flavor. Nice new offering.

12oz bottle from Masuyo’s Liquors in Asagaya. Poured into a shaker pint. Deep chocolate brown with a modest off-white head. Big roasted malt aroma present with nice prune and fig as well. Roasted malty taste with a slight bitterness. Sweet on the palate mostly. Mouthfeel is watery. Not that interesting.

Bottle at Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Need I say it’s brown? Probably not. But I just did. Big head, too. Lovely strong fruitcake and treacle aroma. Expected this to be thick and full bodied but actually it’s watery and with a short finish. A tad disappointed with this.

Poured from bottle. Has a nutty aroma. Pours a clear dark red. Has a light bitter taste with a hint of sweet at the finish. Medium body and creamy texture. A really nice brew, with more complexity than most.
