Rich, nuanced, shows a lot of depth. Sweetish, and very flavourful. Definitely one of my favourite beers I’ve ever had.

Had this just after Anchor’s "Small Beer" (proof that sometimes less is not more), and the difference in quality could not be more stark. This is one of the best Brown Ales. Malt. Just enough hop to balance (perhaps not enough?). Hop-heads will not like, but this malt-head loves it.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 ronaldtheriot (811) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Brekle’s Brown has a very thick, creamy, tan head and a clear, bubbly, brown appearance, with some lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, brown bread and a flash of hops; the taste is likewise of sweet brown bread, brown sugar, mild hop bitterness, and some caramel candy aspects. There were even some chocolate notes with this one. Mouthfeel is medium, and Brekle’s Brown finishes refreshing, semi-dry, and easy drinking. It’s a most excellent beer. RJT
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 TheCorkStops (53) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 9, 2012
Brekle’s Brown Ale pours out a nice dark brown color, mostly opaque but some light still makes it through. The lively foam is a light tan color, and lingers a bit longer than expected. Very little lacing left behind on the glass but that’s not surprising. Aromas are nicely malty, slightly sweet with just a touch of caramel and toffee.
Flavors are great! The Brekle’s Brown Ale is flavorful but super smooth. Completely dominated by malty flavors, I’m not picking up any hops bitterness at all. That being said it’s not a candy-sweet style, as the Brekle’s finishes nicely dry.
I can honestly say this is the single best beer I’ve every had from Anchor Brewing! It’s smooth yet flavorful, refreshing yet satisfying: I’m legitimately impressed! This is a brew that we’ll definitely be adding to our selection as soon as our distributors make it available to us. If you’ve never tried the Brekle’s Brown, I’d suggest stopping in for a try.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 mikedevilsfan (76) - Tennessee, USA - MAY 26, 2013
I can’t believe how low this is rated here. One of the deepest browns I have ever tasted. Sweet molasses on the nose with some caramel. Complex taste of sweet caramel and slight hops. About as far as you can push a brown flavor wise.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 rjplumer (325) - Foxboro, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Crispy hop aroma. Deep ruby red color with a tan one finger head. Mild bitterness with sweet clean finish. Tingly on the tongue. Well balanced between the Citra hops and mild bitterness. I’m liking this more and more with each mouthful.

Ruby/brown color with a big tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and hops. Taste of caramel, roasted malts, nuts and hops.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 mrhoppy (902) - Santa Clara, California, USA - FEB 9, 2012
Awesome beer! Rich and flavorful. Beer like this is the reason I love beer. Maltiness that reminds you of liquor. Real nice dry grainy aspect. Halfway through this beer I had to go make me some authentic German sausage and sauerkraut with caraway seed of course.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jamedra (40) - CZECH REPUBLIC - APR 13, 2013
