3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, USA - AUG 1, 2011
On tap at O’Brien’s’ pouring up dark muddy brown with tan head. The aroma offers up a mix of sweet dark fruit esters and a few different degrees of roasted maltiness. The esters are pretty bold. The taste offers up loads of various sweet dark fruity esters injected with thin ribbons of malt roastiness. This is one estery brown which provides plenty of interest.

pours a dark, clear, caramel colored brown with small, diminishing grey head. Aroma of caramel, soft molasses, brown sugar, roasted hazelnut. Medium bodied, smooth, with a nutty finish. Flavor of caramel with a soft, spicy hop presence, some nuts, ever so lightly bittered. Great session brown.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 crazyvin (1572) - New York, USA - MAY 25, 2012
A clear brown body with a off white head that had good retention, but no lacing. Aroma had a nice floral hop profile and nice toasted malts. There was a subtle note almost like talcum powder. It wasn’t off setting or bad, it was actually interesting. Flavor was well balanced. Roasted malts dominated the initial flavor which gave way to a nice floral hop presence in the finish. Kind of light, carbonation was mild.

This was a very good brown ale. Pours a rich-enough brown, moderate carbonation. Very interesting flavor, with a maltiness, to be sure, but some fruitiness that slides into an orange (the "Citra" perhaps suggesting it to me) in the later finish. Subtle and complex, and about all I would want from a brown ale, without making it into a porter. Bottle.

Pours a nice copper brown from the bottle with a thick tan head and good lacing. Aroma is sweet and roasted malts, with a bit of alcohol. Taste is the sweet caramel and nut malts with a slightly hoppy finish. Well balanced and clean; nice american brown ale, similar to a dutch.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 22, 2012
From 0.355l bottle @ Ølfestival København 2012 . Pours a light cloudy nutty-brown body with a small sidesticking beige head that’s quickly fading. The aroma has some butterscotch and sweetness from malts with a hint of both dark fruits and chocolate paper. It’s average carbonated and it has a oily to sticky sticky texture in the mouth. The flavor has lots of caramel - almost burned caramel actually - with nuts and some branches. There is also a light mild metallic tone in the background that’s a bit confusing for the old buds. Still, II fond this to be a tasty brown ale. 10.05.2012

Hazy redish amber brown with a nice beige head and sticky lace. Strong caramel malt aroma with hints of figs, raisins and nuts. Malt sweetness up front, with chocolate and ripe fruit in the middle, and a slight hops kick in the back. Medium body, minimal carbonation, slightly sticky on the palate, and a pleasant finish that features the caramel malt sweetness.

Bottle from Alexander Wines, Coventry. Dark ruby pour with a tidy yellow-beige head. Enticing, sweet, milk chocolate coated vanilla and fig aroma identical to that untraceable sake I’ve got in the fridge. Slick and malty with a satisfying, layered sweetness hinting at Allsorts, muscovado, black cherry and fig. Maybe a trace of floral hop- after you’ve been on the extreme chilli houmous, at least. Proper brown ale, no doubt.
