COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewmaster Mark Carpenter’s unique recipe for Brekle’s Brown—a tip of the hat to our first brewmaster—looks to both the past and the future. Mark’s special blend of roasted malts, inspired by the all-malt brown ales in Anchor’s brewing archives, gives Brekle’s Brown its coppery brown color and its unusual depth of flavor—richness and complexity without heaviness. For brewing and dry hopping, Mark has chosen a single, American hop variety called Citra. The subtly entrancing flavors and aromas of this distinctive new hop perfectly complement the unique maltiness of Brekle’s Brown.

Dark amber, little head or carbonation. Very malty without being sticky or sugary sweet. Some fruit flavor like tropic. Full flavored but not heavy, drinkable.

Case (238) - GERMANY - AUG 17, 2014
Pours dark brown with medium head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is quite hoppy, freshly cut grass, herbal, citrus, caramel. Taste is a solid malt base, caramel and toffee, on the sweet side. Light nuttyness, very light bitterness. Rather unremarkable and simple, like a brown paper bag.

Unde (344) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 17, 2014
Clear brown red looks with big and bold beige head, a nice looking beer. Aroma has lemon, sweet malts and red berries. Taste starts with berries, then zesty lemon and ending with nuts and malts. Medium body and medium+ carbonation. A pleasant surprise!

12oz. Pours a light, clear brown with a light tan head. Aromas of citrus and caramel. Taste is semi dry and lightly bitter. Flavors of caramel, light citrus rind, biscuits. Low carb. I don’t know, I guess it’s ok. Didn’t blow me away. Simplistic and solid. Finish is semi sweet and lightly citrusy.

Pours a clear, light brown, with a nice creamy head. Hoppy aroma. Taste of hops and malts. Fairly drinkable. This one was more hoppy than most browns, but I liked it. Thumbs up.

Bottle at ALEhouse, Riga. Pours brown with a beige head, looking like a brown ale should look like. Beer is nicely chilled, so aromas are difficult to get at first - but when they come out, then there is some caramel, a bit of roast and surprising many herbal notes. Taste is clean I guess that at the time when brown ales were the most common beers (as pale malts were too difficult to produce) then they couldn’t actually make this clean taste. Not sure if I like it that much (maybe I prefer a bit malteir brown ales) but it definitely is good and well executed version.

Poured a dark hazy copper colour. The head faded quickly but left spotty lace. Taste is of caramelized malts and dark fruits with citrus hints. Rockin’ Beer. Best of class
