3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Poured orange with a big, frothy, white head. A mellow pale, sessionable tasting. More like a Northeast/English influenced pale. Biscuity, caramely, malt sweetness. The hops were resinous, oily and earthy, but not bittering or piney/citrus. The yeast was nice, and appropriate for the style adding a nice tang to the finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear bright gold with a nice lasting fluffy white head and some streaky lace. Aroma is a balance of yeasty doughy nutty house yeast character, with a decent nelson sauvin hop presence- also touch of crackery doughy malts, and light grass with a slight prickly dirt hint. Flavor has a bit more grapey green fruity nelson character, slight oily, some citrus juiciness, light pine, grass, light dirt and mineral with a more hidden nutty yeast character than the aroma suggested. Finish still has a slight oiliness, grass, and a moderate bitterness- mostly clean overall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orangish yellow pour with big white head that clings to the glass. Aroma of sweet fruity malts, a slight hint of cereal malt. Hops are citrus with a bit of mango and other fruit. Flavor is somewhat bitter forward hops. Lots of fruit and light cereal malt. The yeast character is similar to other Anchor beers. Medium body, slick texture, with lively carbonation. Finishes strong with the bitter hops. But, itís a really easy to drink pale for lovers of bitter hoppy session beers.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, poured bright and clear with lively carbonation. Orange color. A nice 1.5 finger head from the get go, faded to a small head with good retention. Aroma was of a combination of some fruity and earthy hops, some bread like malt as well. Quite laid back. Some nice, yet subdued hop flavors started this one, faded to some malty presence and an extremely light bitterness in the finish. Also finished very dry. An ok APA, obviously better ones are out there.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fluffy pillow cloud of a head that seems to last forever, before finally collapsing down, leaving a foamy lace on the side of the glass. Light piny aroma. This special hopís aroma reminds me a lot of a cross between Liberty and Cascade. Kind of a fruity flavor, more like an English hop than an American variety. Resiny flavor lingers on the palate for some time. Normal carbonation and body. Sort of reminds me of a weak SN Celebration Ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Despite the label shown, I had this in a bottle, golden body, lacy white head, aroma of sweet malts and spicy hops, refreshing ale with a nice rigid bitter backbone, no hop flavor to speak of aside from a mild spice, malt forward ale, refreshing and straight to the point

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a bottle. Pine in the aroma. Flavor has dry grass, some wildflowers, and a little honey. Crisp and clean on the palate with a quick finish. Bitter, and very dry. Gold color.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Smells a bit funky. Looks great. Not what I expected. First thought is quite dry but not real hoppy. Flavor is a bit acidic and mostly dry more than anything else, but without the lightness of a pils. Not too good.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2010 12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a lightly hazy brass color with a medium white head that has good retention and some lacing. The aroma was pungent with green hops, weeds and leaves. The flavor seemed to have a cooked vegetable quality that included cabbage and beets with biscuit on the back of the tongue. Palate was full and malty. The finish was medium in duration and dry. Overall: As much as I loved the aroma I did not like the flavor, Iím hoping i just had an off bottle. --Re-rate note: 2nd sample this was an altogether different beer, the cooked vege note was gone and there was a nice spruce taste in the brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Created a thick fluffy pillow of head while the liquid was a golden blonde color. As for the nose, there is a spicy usage of yeast while also having a spruce scent of pine, oats, grain, and orange/tangerine peel. Maybe itís just me but somehow I smell a faint aroma of body odor/sweat, and that part of the aroma does make me a little uneasy. The flavor is heavily spiced and is surprising considering this was just supposed to be another pale ale style beer made my Anchor Brewing, but the flavors are bold and suggest hints of coriander, lime leaf, grapefruit and dominant hop bite. Certainly a beer that could be easily quaffed down during the warm months of summer.
