To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewing’s long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

Sample from bottle at Glunz beer Expo, Apr 5. Shows no bubbles, but a nice thin layer of foam up top, beer itself is clear, almost light as a pilsener. Pretty basic IPA smell (how can it be called an "American Pale Ale" if it uses New Zealand hops?). Very grassy hop taste, just a little bit of supportive malt, lightly toasted, so this is intended as a hop-forward beer. Good for hopheads, though. Goes down nicely. This was originally a one-off beer, but the Anchor rep told me there was such demand for it, it will be coming back into regular rotation.

Bottle - Clear golden, orangeish colour with a decent frothy off-white head. Nose is grapefruit, pine, biscuit and toffee. Nice malty taste balancing the american hops. Medium body, lively carbonation and dry, hoppy finish.

Diferente y estupenda.

335 ml bottle @ Konttori
Orange clear beer with white head. Aroma has honey, pineapple, flowers and glue. Flavor has honey, bitter caramel and flowers. Palate is medium full with quite strong carbonation. Finish has medium bitterness. Aftertaste has caramel, honey, grapefruit and pine. Too honeyish and flowery for me.

Light aroma of fruit and a little flowery. The taste is very bitter and perhaps a minimal fruitiness. But it is hardly so it is detected. Is it wrong of beer or like I just did not it? Says on the bottle that it will last at least until November 2014. The bitterness is not at all good according to me. It fills the upper part of the mouth for a long while. It is almost as I pour out the beer. Bad rating of this beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured cloudy, amber, small off white head and a little bit of spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruit, malts and some honey. Taste is sweet, malty, some honey, some fruit notes, some herbal notes. Very decent beer; quite drinkable and certainly very enjoyable.

Bottle split two ways. Pour is clear copper with a frothy head. Nose and taste has the usual suspects, some light resin, grapefruit and pine needles with some light caramel sweetness.
