UPDATED: MAR 10, 2004 The best balanced micro-ale, IMO. There are certainly bolder, stronger ales to be had, but Liberty is almost perfect. The fruity, refreshing flavor balances the hop bitterness. Pours a deep golden hue, with foamy head and good retention. Taste reminds me of grapefruit. Body is just right, with a little of hop-oil to wash it down. If I could only have one micro-ale, this would be my choice.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2004 Bottle, 12oz. Almost crystal clear medium copper/tan color. Off white straw head that dies quickly. Minimal lace. Mildly malty aroma with a nice spiciness. Medium bodied, slightly ambery flavor. Fashoned after Bass IMO but would qualify as Bassí bigger brother. There is a sweetness in the malty creamyness and a definate hop bitterness on the palate and finish. A very good pale ale but the price is a bit sharp @ $8.50/6. Just another $1 and Iím in Stone territory. 10/30/04 Iím getting Stone IPA for $6.49/6 now instead of the 22oz/$2.99

Dark golden color with no head. Nose is citrus hoppy. Flavor is heavily hopped with a lasting bitterness. Very low malt sweetness.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2004 Gold with red hints. Smells of citrus, lavender and a bit of sulfur. Very hoppy in flavor, with white grapefruit and some white grape flavors. Not much malt flavor at all. Good carbonation helps to give it a nice refreshing quality. Hides the alcohol very well. Long finish. I would definitely buy this again.

Hazy gold. Good nose, sweet with caramel malts and a lingering citrus hoppiness. Bit thin on the flavor, definite bready malts predominate, bit of a bite and the end from hops, but lacks a middle end, drops off into something a bit too watery. Aftertaste is pleasant enough and lingers. Creamy as well.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2010 Bottled. Orange coloured with virtually no head. The aroma and flavour are both mildly spicy. An excellent moreish beer which belies its strength. Score 3.7

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2004 Hazy gold, big head, tiny bead carb. Lots of lace. Mild sweet hops burnt sugar/caramel bitter. Round. Piney and floral. Grapefruit with some pith. A good IPA, not relying soley on the hops for bitterness. Carries a citric finish.

Definitely the first IPA that I ever had. I didn't have a clue that it was an IPA at the time, or what an IPA was. Still up there among my old reliable favorite beers, never disappoints.

First IPA I've tried (I think)...Anyway. Slightly hazy gold yellow, a normal sized head with regular lacing. Quite citrusy and zingy smelling, with some smooth honey-butterscotchy malt smells too. Smooth feel in the mouth, some crispness on the tongue, more malt, an undertone of sweetness, and more tangy hops. Bitter and sort of tart finish. Tongue smacking resulted. Good intro to this style.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2007 (Bottled) Hazy light amber color with a medium, foamy and quite thick, lacy head. Very aromatic-hoppy and pleasant, rosť talc-powdery, flowery aroma with grass and lemon. Flowery-lemony-hoppy, very aromatic, slightly sweetish-malty flavor with a long, lingering, dry and bitter finish. No alcohol present at any time. Medium-bodied, well-balanced and refreshing palate with pretty high, but balanced carbonation. A beautifully and strongly hoppy, yet still excellently drinkable and balanced ale.
