3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared per Chuck! Thanks Chuck! Pours to a hazy orange body with a thin oily white head and nice lacing. The aroma is malted milk balls, apricots, white grapes, oranges and lemons. Kinda leafy. The flavor starts off as a nice refreshing light citrus and finishes with a huge toasted perfume malt. Oddly, however, this is not what I think of when I think APA. More of a English bitter mixed with a golden ale? Anyway, the palate is moderate at best. I had high hopes when I heard APA, but then was let down. Ah well. This is still "good", just not exceptional.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours an orangish color w/ a nice white head fairly well laced. A big cascade hop aroma very nice and grassy hints of weak carmel and some light grain. Palate is well carbonated lightly coated in hop oil. Flavor is mostly a standard apa hop flavor fairly dry and lightly bitter even a hint of mint in the swallow. Nothing to blwo you away but a solid brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 24, 2006 A Mes rate:
Wonderful light amber/dark blonde looks. Rocky head that settles slowly to a thin film which then lasts until you are finished. Strange dusty aroma with hints of builders putty. Even stranger almost minty flavour. More specifically spearmint. Drinkable but personally I dont see what all the fuss is about. (3.1) Re-Rate: Considering I slated this the first time I rated it I figured I should make amends. Itís actually very good. Nose is great. Lick of alcohol, plenty of hops plus a bit of biscuit and caramel. A soapy twang but Iíll let it slide. Flavour still has that odd minty note but I do like it. It is one of those beers where you can taste all the ingredients quite individually and clear as day. Often this makes it run of the mill but here it really works. A great palate and a very moreish crisp hop finish. Much better than I originally stated. Oh and it is also much better when it is not over chilled which could account for my original rate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an orange-yellow from the bottle with a thick bubbly head. Smells malty and fruity like Anchor Steam, and tastes quite similar. A little more hoppy.

Bottle: This wonderful beer pours an almost clear amber gold with a quickly-diminishing, delicate, soft, white head. The aromas are quite inviting: they scream to the consumer "Come, all who love beer, learn from me, drink and be filled with Anchor excellence!" Besides that, I also noticed grapey and lemony hops. It has a rich flavor with a nice balance (of course, favoring the hops for a good pale ale) and has light perfume like flavors. It has good carbonation levels and you can notice the slightly higher alcohol %. The body is full and really provides a wonderful time for your mouth while you are drinking it. Overall, this 1975 classic was, and still remains, one of the best things to come out of that cursed decade. I base my description of the decade not only on disco and bell bottomn, but also on my own cursedness, being born in good olí 1974.

The look and feel of this ale are slightly weak, but donít let that fool you. The flavor is ample, dry, and astoundingly refreshing. I prefer my beer devoid of any other taste distractions simply because they do not mix well; however, this brew goes better with food than any other Iíve tried.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hopy aroma stands out at first and by finish a grain aroma is present, Body copper color with small white head. Flavor was bitter at first but some fruit flavor in the finish. Was bitter on the palate at first but ended up a refreshing beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
So I wasnít so impressed with Steam Beer, but this is one fine drop! Gently hazy pale copper with a tightish off-white head. Very appealing! An aroma of light biscuits and sweet caramel greets you then in the mouth it is medium but with a fat juicy quenching quality. A light spritzy effervesence plays across the tongue. The taste is sweet-edged biscuity malt and a lovely citrus tang midway through. Well balanced bitterness underpins it all quickly and it lasts pleasantly to remind you youíre drinking an APA. This is a super beer with great balance of quaffable proportions and enuff bitterness to let you know whoís boss.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cascade hop aroma. Cloudy pale orange/amber color. Nice malt profile with a light to medium hop presence that finished with some toned down citrus rind flavors.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of my favorites for years. Thick, lacy head, perfumy,floral/citrus Cascade character, from bittering to flavor to aroma. Fairly pale for style, light maltiness up front, yet contributes to overall rich impression. Great, hoppy ale.
