3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber color, heavenly hops. Citrus tastes but that just seem to compliment those wonderful hops and keep you wanting more. Very good pale ale...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber color, some head and okay lacing, medium-bodied. Citrus, floral, bittersweet chocolate are aromas I detected. The taste has a grapefruit like tartness countered by a tactile sweetness. Well balanced, nice lingering aftertaste that not bitter. Top notch IPA!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice deep amber color with small head even with a heavy pour. Lacing is minimal but consistent to the finish. This is a nice rich IPA and seems a little heavier than others. Cascade hops obvious from the get-go and a great malt/hop balance. I found this full bodied for it's style.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2004 Batch 4L7(7-31-04).Pours out a solid orange/ golden w/a nice head that quickly dissipates into some decent lacing..The taste of this beer is wonderful. This one is a bit more quafable than most IPAs IMO.Can't stop buying regardless of price. The aroma is a nice amount of englishy malts met with a decent amount of fresh Cascade hops. This is one finely tuned very enjoable IPA(more of the English nature)I personally think Stone's IPA reminds me of a heavier hopped version of this great ale.Alot of times people probly end up with old bottles, because of the price and a tricky bottle dating scheme.Just know the first number represents the last number of the year, middle letter represents the month(Y=May,U=June, L=July, and G=August, the other months represent themselves by the first letter,it's whack but I get it now...An american classic.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
This was both the first american micro and the first IPA I had in my life! And I must say, a great one it was! Hazy golden colour. Rich, attractive head. Aroma is surprising: strong, sweet and yet fresh, with caramel and orange notes dominating.
Taste is slightly bitter, but mellows into a delicious fruity flavor (grapes). Body is medium. Finish is definitely dry. Superb! I was expecting something like "Revenge Of The Hops", but the brew seems pretty balanced to me. Perfect for my taste.

Reasonable head and okay lacing. I liked the hop tank that was the main notable feature of this brew

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one poured a semi cloudy orange color with little to no carbonation and a super tiny non lasting white head. The aroma was very citrusy and hoppy with a crystal maltiness to it. The flavor is much of the same with caramel and crystal like malts pounding the palate amidst a flurry of lemon, grapefruit and tang. There is almost an almondy sweetness about this beer with a mid taste bitterness that milds out by the finish. Fairly dry finish with increased carbonation as it goes down. A well rounded beer overall.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Assuming that everything in the cooler at the local store was ALSO on the shelf warm, I didn't see this one in my many months of visiting the store until just recently. It was worth the wait! This beer starts out a cloudy orange color, with a good amount of off white head. It's not a beer that really looks "pretty," but you just get a sense it has some character to it. The nose is hoppy, but not overpowering. A very nice nose! The flavor is also quite nice, though it just doesn't live up to the expectations you might get from the aroma. This isn't as hoppy as expected, I'd say it has a medium bitterness, but a fair amount of citrus character. Really quite nice. A very good IPA.

Hazy, toffeebrown color. Fine white head. Clear hoppy aroma with some spices.
