Pours light amber, average head. Aroma is of bright cascade hops full of resin, grapefruit and pine. Flavour has big hop aroma to open, moving into a soft sweetness from the malts, moving to a bold bitter finish. Fruity, lively, bright, and bitter. Great pale ale, great beer.

There are times when I prefer this to the steam beer. Maybe it’s the extra hop zing that does it but when the mood strikes and I can find new-ish bottles this is really nice. Not Sierra Nevada pale but close to it.

Bottle at home. Aroma: Citrus, grape, sweet malty, slightly diacetylic, cascadey. Nice head, a bit hazy. Good balance in taste between bitterness, sweetness and sourness(?). Creamy nice palate. A very nice beer, good balance in taste and a very fine aroma.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MacDouglass (64) - Illinois, USA - DEC 2, 2010
Aroma: honey and faint sweet, floral hops; Appearance: hazy yellow with medium thick white head that dissipates after a while; Taste: I guess the best way to describe this beer is by saying that it is an even blend of a pleasing lager and a pleasing IPA, the overall impression is a bit of both, good, mild hoppy bitterness with some floral sweetness; Palate: nothing lingers too long, which is good, you can keep coming back for just one more taste without getting sick of any particular flavor; Overall: this is my first American pale ale, since I’m a fan of IPAs, I definately have to say that this is a style of beer that I’ll have to branch out into, and judging by the ratings this beer has received, I started out with a good example, I’d definately recommend it

Tap @ Anchor Steam in SFO. Pours a pale orange with some haze and a very thin head. Bright flowers and grass on the nose with some lemon and earth. Simple and pleasant. The taste is crisp pepper at the start, with earthy hops and slight funk rolling through the finish. Nicely balanced with a clean, malty balance. Finishes crisp and clean with slight linger of hops and funk.
