12oz bottle. Dark gold, almost orange color with a lasting head. Quite citrusy and yeasty aroma. Light malts have just enough sweetness to bring out the citrus fruit flavors is the hops, but aren’t heavy or sticky. The impression you get is a crisp, relatively light and hoppy ale, though not really that hoppy in the grand scheme of west coast IPAs. I’m kinda a sucker for these hoppy and bitter APAs that push the threshold of IPA bitterness, but stay light and refreshing. The taste definitely reminds me of more old school stuff like SNPA or Full Sail, but Anchor seems to have gotten their formula right many years ago. Definitely eclipsed by newer, flashier hoppy ales from the west coast, but remains simple, balanced, and quite tasty in its own right.

Bottle from Utobeer. Deep amber with a moderate white head. Big citrus and pine resin hop aroma with a touch of red currants. Fruity malt aroma, giving way to more hoppiness and a long dry finish. Good stuff.

Very hoppy, all balanced nicely with the malts. Great head. Orangy-amber hue. Strongly flavored, and memorable.

Pours hazy amber with white head. Nice grassy aroma. Flavor is slightly malty with citusy hop finish. Medium body with average carbonation. A decent session brew. This is a good gateway beer to introduce others to flavorful, hoppy craft brews.

Curious as to why it is refered to as a steam on the bottle, but APA here. In all honesty, it tastes more like a hoppier pale ale. Anyway, great beer despite my confusion. Pours a dim golden-orangeish colour with a fantastic head and subtle hop aroma. Taste is soft, citrusy slightly floral with an aroma of pine, grapefruit and cascade hops. Nice brew overall.

Draft sample offered after the Anchor Brewery tour. Nice hoppy aroma and flavor. After their Porter, this is my second favorite Anchor variety.

Celebrated my July 4th with this beer this year. Hoppy through and through, this starts off with a bit of grapefruit before winding up floral and grassy with a medium bitter finish. Aftertaste is slight citrus. Body is good, flavors are bold and well balanced.

Hazy amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is quite hoppy with some citrus. The flavour is also very hoppy with notes of malt and citrus. Aftertaste is bitter. Medium-bodied and well-balanced beer. Quite tasty.
