Originally brewed in 1975 to commemorate Paul Revere's ride, this brew is a heavily hopped ale (Cascade hops) with a copper color and a hoppy nose.

Occluded orange pour with a bit of white head. Strong aromatic aroma of sticky floral hops and honey. Soft carbonation, viscous mouthfeel, clean finish. Juicy hop flavors of melon, lavender, some pine, a bit of biscuity malt.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2015 Bottle, Albert Heijn. Pours clear dark golden. Thick white head. Nose of pale malts, biscuit and orange marmelade. Very balanced hoparoma, like lemon peel jam on toast. Balanced but slightly bitter aftertaste. Creamy texture. Close to the diacetyl threshold.

Bottle. Pours is pale clear golden with medium to big white head. Aroma of lime, toasty, malts, caramel and light grassy. Taste is medium bitter, light sweet with citric and lime notes, fresh. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good, but still just decent in my opinnion.

355ml bottle. Pale gold to deep gold colour with suspended sediment. A towering, dense, creamy head with a buttery tinge. Wonderful head retention and some lovely lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops, biscuit, peach, honey and some caramel. Light to medium bitterness and light sweetness. Light to medium body, smooth texture; a wonderful mouthfeel. The finish is semi-dry but still managers to linger with a beautiful balance between the sweetness and the bitterness. A cracker of a beer.

Hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Hops are noticeable, but dominant scent is armpit. Notes of malt and citrus. Unpleasant and disappointing. Taste is a little bit better, but still boring. More sweet than bitter. Expected more.

Last had this about 20 years ago and thankfully pretty much as I remembered it. Deep golden hue. Good beading. Rocky head. Mute nose. Deep husky raw hop flavour. Great mouthfeel and excellent. Potent too. One of the very most iconic American beers ever made and Anchor continues to honour and brew with this beer as it always was and with love and respect.

Slightly hazy golden color, average sized white head. Aroma of biscuit, some fruitiness, malt, caramel and sweat. Taste is similar, with citrus fruits and malts dominating. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not impressed.
