Originally brewed in 1975 to commemorate Paul Revere's ride, this brew is a heavily hopped ale (Cascade hops) with a copper color and a hoppy nose.

Pours a clear amber with a big tan head that remains as lace. Smells of grass (nice and hoppy), and red licorice. Grainy and lovely. Mouthfeel is smooth, with low-medium carbonation. The taste is sweet--red licorice and molasses. The bitter finish begins oh-so-subtle, then builds nicely without overwhelming the tongue. Nicely hopped and an excellent ale. I’d love to have this one more often, but they just don’t carry it out my way.

Quite tame really. I really don't know what to think about this. I don't think I would drink this again. Its too mild to be an IPA but too hoppy to be on the level with "Steam"

It has been several years since I had this and i thought I’d give it another try. The aroma is not a strong as I remember, but maybe that is due to the advent of the over-the-top hopping style in vouge lately. Anyway the aroma is subtle and grrassy; it poured with a decent if short lived head. The flavor is balanced and on the dry side, which I like with a somewhat bitter finish. There is little evidence of the caramel sweetness that so many brewers seem to use to balance their hopping levels, which I also like. Overall a well made beer; not as agressive as I remember it, but more subtle in comparason to other American Pale and IPA’s. Well done.

This may be the best ale I have tried. Pour a cloudy golden color with a nice sized white head. The aroma is hoppy. The flavor is also of hops and may I add just the correct amount. Very nice brew.

Light orange color, thin and quickly dissipating white head - Aroma: Light fruity aroma, hints of flowers and resin, citrus hops, biscuits and corn / grains in the aftertaste - taste is slightly sweet an bitter at first and gets more bitter towards the end, resulting in a rather dry finish - medium to full body, creamy, maybe even frothy, nevertheless crisp and fresh texture, average carb.

Consistantly one of the best American ales in bottle. Everytime I drink on of these I wonder why it isn’t more often... Nice caramel malt balanced with a touch of hop bitterness. If only this could be the American representative in the UN of world beers...

12oz bottle pour. Light amber body with a white head. Not much retention or lacing. I’m getting some citrus hops in the nose, but not much in the flavor. Nice bitterness and a little breadiness in the finish. Overall, tastes a bit like Anchor Steam’s slightly hoppier cousin. Good everyday beer.

Pours a nice amber color. Not much head to speak of. A strong, striking aroma that is full of hops. Citrus and hops with plenty of bitterness for a taste that is nowhere near boring. Could have had a little more smoothness or body, but not a disappointing beer by any means.
