Bottle clear gold. Nose lemon and sweet malt. Taste sweet malt up front followed by strong mid palate bitter. Smells almost like a belgian. Nothing off putting but nothing fantastic.

Citrusy hops, mild bitterness. Moderate sweetness \ maltness. A load of great history to this beer.

Pours a caramel color with a small creamy tan head. Smells of resin, caramel, and hops. Sweet upfront taste of toast followed by a pale hope flavor that end moderately bitter. Dry finish, with no lingering affect. Medium bodied, medium carb.

From bottle to glass. Living in SF and having had this beer on numerous occasions, i feel like it always misses the mark a little. Herb, earth hops and biscuit malts on the nose. Beautiful crystal clear gold with full white head that lingers. Taste is earthy and slight pine. Overt malt dominates, more like an east coast style as it overshadows the hops. Thinnish mouthfeel.

Bottle: Vibrant, yellow-golden body with only a slight chill haze. Brilliant white, foamy cap retains very well & leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma contains some quenching citrus, perhaps lemon & grapefruit with heavy floral undertones, quite earthy, even a little dirty. Spicy florals & tangerine open up with warmth. Taste has a nice orange & overall citric presence with an even stronger rush of floral, herbal hops. Almost seems more like a mix of English & American hops rather than all Cascade. A touch of herbal, peppery spice but never getting too bitter. Clean, mildly citric finish with a tiny bit of biscuit-y malt to back everything up. This isn’t a mind-blower by any chance, but it’s definitely a quaffable easy drinker that’s even better on hot summer days.

Weak color and aroma really distract from this beer.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2009 Dry-hopped aroma with toasted malt hints. Full of hops in aroma but too much malt in the flavor. Very toasty with balancing Cascade and buttery yeast undertones.

Hoppy nose, decent head. Lacking in hop flavor. Slight malty start, weak slightly bitter finish. Average Pale.
