COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed in 1975 to commemorate Paul Revere's ride, this brew is a heavily hopped ale (Cascade hops) with a copper color and a hoppy nose.

(Bottle) Clean, crisp, light, cool. The aroma doesnít strike me as terribly complex when I just smell it, but when I start drinking it a lot of complexity emerges. Pleasantly dry, very bitter, just the right kind of carbonation to balance the aroma. A hint of sourness but none of the unpleasant type. A rich, coarse maltiness. This is the second-best American Pale Ale that Iíve tried...surpassed in my opinion only by Great Lakesí Burning River, although that is a very different beer (this beer is more dry and has less citrusy/fruity character of the hops).

A very good beer. Bronze colored in the glass. Crisp and floral aroma. Same taste, nice and dry. A classic.

I originally had this beer about 7 years ago and was not impressed. Either the beer or my beer palate has improved. Wow! This is one tasty brew! Beautifully hoppy, perfect aroma. Lots of carbonation is visible in the body which spawns a large, white, rocky, creamy head. Body is amber orange in color. Nice flavor; similar to Minneapolis Town Hall's Single Malt Ale, but less sweet and cloying. Light to moderate bitterness; more bitter than Anchor steam. A little surprised to learn this is an IPA and it should delight both hop-heads and non, alike. Good session beer.

Bottled. Fruity and flowery scent. Fruity, citrus flavor. It had a bitter, crisp finish. This is a very good, well-crafted ale. I loved it!

This is one of my favorites when I can find it. I donít feel full and bloated after drinking a couple, but itís definitely not a light beer. Itís rather tasty, and the citrus isnít overpowering like some other pale ales (Iím looking at you, Three Floydís ...). Iím too scared to try Anchorís other offerings because I donít want get the feeling that I just should of bought this instead. Iím cheap like that.

Pours a cloudy orange with a white, yeasty head. head fades within 2 minutes, but leaves a slight skin floating on top of the brew. Nose is of malt, grapefruit, and orange peel, with a smidgen of cantaloupe, bubblegum, and circus peanut candy. More hops than expected (no hops detected in the aroma by me). Not as sweet tasting as the nose would have lead me to believe. Just enough carbonation to entice the throat. After taste is a bit subdued. This is probably intentional to entice another sip. Liquid genius.

DATE TASTED: January 16, 2015... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint ... OCCASION: a good week done... APPEARANCE: a storm of effervescent bubbles whirl violently below an absolute dreamy cloud of thick white head; hazy orange amber in color; lacing is ribbed and substantial... AROMA: sharp orange peel; some sugarlike cookie, vanilla, grapefruit and spring flowers... PALATE: creamy at the lips; slight pings of sourness at the teeth; effervescent but swift to the throat; light and mega-sessionable ...TASTE: citric flavors of grapefruit and lilac, orange and vanilla make this already a winner; the malt settles nicely, providing balance...OVERALL: why so long to revisit this most perfect example of the genre--as refreshing and flavorful as a pale ale can be...
