3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, dated 30 Sept 05. Interesting pour: a somewhat cloudy, burnished brass body, with a thin but creamy head. Smell upon opening is a bit of skunk, but that clears away quickly. Taste is definitely on the hoppy side, with graprefruit and pine from those Northwest lupulins. The malts don’t seem to be able to stand up to this, and the fact that this is lighter in color that other APA’s I’ve known would confirm this. However, if this is the same recipe they used back in 1975, it would have indeed been a beer ahead of its time. Some say it’s overcarbonated, but I find this to my taste.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber. Good aroma with malty caramel and citrusy hops, in addition to a bit of hoppy spice and flora. Moderately hoppy flavour, and a somewhat dry taste with a dry and bitter finish. Very little malt flavour. Medium body. Overall, a good pale ale. While tasty and refreshing, it is also somewhat light, and I prefer a more pronounced malt character and sweetness to balance the hops.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Liberty ale poured a slightly hazy golden body with a thin off white cap. not much lace left behind, mouthfeel was good with a hop bite. Aroma of citrus and slightly floral. Flavor was similar to the aroma with a nice hop tartness, and plesant aftertaste. Overall a pretty good offering from anchor.Originally rated on 10/10/08

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
