Double-Mag shared thanks to mrubio. (Donít know vintage, but past prime). Lovely oxidation aroma. Murky brown, with lean body, nearly flat. Dusty flour nose, smooth whiskey dominates flavor, warming finish.

Draft. Colored like grapefruit pulp with one finger of silky tan froth. Some earthy hops in the nose, as well as mild oak, overripe orange, caramel and some floral notes. Light buttery whiskey, hop bitterness and a hint of toffee in the flavor. Like a gently aged pale ale. Medium body; good heft; massaging carb. Clean, fairly bitter finish. Some lingering whiskey. I was really disappointed in this one. Thereís not nearly as much flavor or complexity as I was led to believe.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Beer Revolution. It pours a dark brown color with an off white head. The aroma is a nice mix of cinnamon, bourbon, dark fruity raisin, red grape, plum and a touch of nutmeg. The flavor is the same. Nice rich plum and figgy fruit with toasty, spicy vanilla barrel notes. Itís rich on the palate and feels bigger than it is, and I mean that in a good way. Excellent stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at The Office Bar and Grill. Rich sweet whiskey and wood aroma, loads of caramel. Taste is on the sweet side, followed by the woody bourbon. Finishes semi-dry with plenty of tight astringent bitterness. Some alcohol burn. Tasty and pretty strong. Hard to find, but worth it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Jernigans NC. A really nice example of what a wood aged beer can be mildly. As to say, you really taste the wood in this beer...not the bourbon or the wine...the wood. Itís a solid Strong Ale with a heavy malt all the way through. Hints of oak through with a woody finish. Could be a bit thicker, but tasty!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark copper with a beige head. Aromas of citrus and rye? Med body or better. Itís sort of rye spicy. Just a little on the sweet side. Thereís a subtle oak astringency that seems to turn it towards dry. Very well blended flavors. Nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Glassy red in color with a fine, contrasting white head, the nose is strong of alcohol and, perhaps, whiskey barrel wood. Itís easy, and not over-wooded, but still potent with alcohol. It reminds me very much of an Old Foghorn, but thinner in body and flavor. This beer should not be consumed cold. Itís thin, wet, and straight to the point. Drink it cold and you lose alot of the beerís gentle nuances. Although it tastes fresh, itís still palatable for a beer that, by its nature, should be aged. But itís nice, classy, and has a great flavor profile of an American Barleywine, with hops and delicious, woody malts. Overall, itís thin, but to the point. A really easy drink.
