| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Pours a dark amber color with a tan head. Caramel malts, dark fruit, and some citrus hops are the main aromas that dominate. Flavor is sweet up front with the caramel malts and dark fruits. Finishes a little bitter from the hops and only a hint of warming. I’m glad this one wasn’t overly hoppy like many American barley wines nickd717 (1413), Palo Alto, California, USA

Reddish-amber color with a beige head. Aroma is lots of caramel malts and some citrusy hops. Flavor is malty and sweet with toffee, some fruitiness, some hops, and some Anchor Steam-like character I can’t quite place. A pretty solid offering overall. fidel (1020), Livermore, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a really pretty deep mahogany, almost burgundy color with a smallish tan head. Aroma is raisins and caramel, with a touch of hops and alcohol. Flavor is nice and rich with lots of caramel/toffee, some alcohol, some noble hop, and a touch of bitterness on the end. Very drinkable, and just a really nice and mellow barleywine. Anker (313), Hillerød, Denmark

Aroma is roasted figs, malt and caramel.
Flavour is mainly figs and malt, with some bitterness as well.
The after taste unfortunately disappears quickly, but it’s a great brew though. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Bottle. A beautiful deep red/brown color, with very little head. Strong, sweet, malty aroma with notes of caramel, fruits and hops. The full, sweet and malty taste leaves an oily and a bit tacky feel to the mouth with a rich hoppy aftertaste. You can’t really taste the alcohol from under all the malty sweetness. This one is definately a potential barley wine, it’s interesting, complex and still easy to drink. I love it.

Dark brown color with nice shiny orange and a huge off-white head. Big caramel malts with huge hop bitterness and some aroma as well. Raisins, pears. Alcohol noticeable, almost rum-like. Bitter, slightly burning finish of alcohol and hops. Well done, fruity and very hoppy.
