COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s celebrated Old Foghorn Ale has been virually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer, in one of the world’s smallest and most traditional breweries, since 1975. Our barleywine-style ale, the first of its kind in modern times in the United States, has a luscious depth of flavour that makes it ideal for sipping after dinner. It is made with top-fermenting yeast, fresh whole hops, and "first wort", the richest runnings of a thick all-malt mash. Old Foghorn is "dry hopped" in the classic ale tradition and aged in our cellars until it attains the perfect balance of malty sweetness, estery fruitiness, and exquisite hop character, for which it is known throughout the world. A ruby red ale with little carbonation and a warm finish.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Malty smell with dried fruit and caramel. Similar taste with some piney hops. Very round taste. Easy to drink even though the abv is quite high. Not boozy at all. Really nice.

Marmelade and caramel aroma. Sweet, fruity, lots of brown sugar, some toast in the aftertaste. Spicy. Visually beautiful as well.

Clear, dark mahogny-red beer. Two finger high, beige head that leaves lacing in the glass.

Nose: Dark fruit, caramel malt, bread, plum and brown sugar.
Taste: Sweet malt, raisin, plum, grass, dark fruit, a little bit orange, nuts and dark syrup.
Body: Medium to full body . Light carbonated. Creamy feeling. The alcohol is well hidden with a perfect balanced bitterness.

A great barleywine from Anchor!

One of my all time favorite beers, an english style barleywine, not very hoppy, but it’s so complex and wonderful.

dark Maroon body with foamy off white head. Rich malty oaky vanilla dried fruit and booze aroma. Taste is rich and sweet, a touch of raspberry and banana and cough syrup with a bitter hoppy backbone and some booziness. Nice beer and hoppier than most barley wines.

A really great barley wine. Aromas of corn syrup and maybe a bit of bubblegum. Really nice malty corn sweetness balanced by a hoppy finish. Great mouth feel.

Butelka z data do 11.2015. Barwa piekna rubinowa piana ladna ale szybko opada i znika. Zapach slod karmel alkohol miod i jeszcze troche chmielu. W smaku podobnie mega slodowosc + troszeczke cytrusow i alkoholu. Goryczka moglaby byc wieksza.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber-brown with a small tan head. Malty aroma, with toffee, sultana raisins, tobacco, hints of white grape and other fruit. Flavour is sweet and malty up front with a touch of fruity tartness and bitterness, some caramel, toffee, raisin, grape and leather notes. Nicely balanced, a little dry with some warmth in the finish. Very tasty.
