COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s celebrated Old Foghorn Ale has been virually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer, in one of the world’s smallest and most traditional breweries, since 1975. Our barleywine-style ale, the first of its kind in modern times in the United States, has a luscious depth of flavour that makes it ideal for sipping after dinner. It is made with top-fermenting yeast, fresh whole hops, and "first wort", the richest runnings of a thick all-malt mash. Old Foghorn is "dry hopped" in the classic ale tradition and aged in our cellars until it attains the perfect balance of malty sweetness, estery fruitiness, and exquisite hop character, for which it is known throughout the world. A ruby red ale with little carbonation and a warm finish.

12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of malts, yeast and sweet fruit. Taste is much the same with a bit of bitter hops.

@ Basunen 14-12-15: stor fruktig doft med framför allt banan. Smaken är något mer balanserad. Mycket fin fyllighet och balanserad hetta. En fin värmare. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

(Bottle). Sweet scent of caramel, fruit, chewing gum and raisins. Taste of sweet raisins, fruit, malt and hops. Warm hints of alcohol in the finish, and also some hints of salty sea. A nice beer this one! A very good Barley Wine.

Beautiful colour. Already some sweetness and maltiness in the nose. Even more in the mouth. High alcohol, sweetness and maltiness, rich hopiness and finesse. Either you love it or not. Love it.

Metal, fruity and butterscotch on the nose. The taste of lightly fruity, butterscotch and bitterness. Heavy bitterness that fills the mouth forever. Too bitter for my taste. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

A bit watery and with harsh taste after a few sips. A bit disappointing. The beer might have been a bit too cold.

Amber color with no head. Aroma of melons and caramel. Taste is rather weak, weird for Barley Wine. Mostly boozy, maybe a little bit of spices. Nothing very special for a Barley Wine.

Been looking forward to this grandfather of modern barley wine for a long time. It’s more than I expected. There’s lots of fruit in the aroma, both citrus and darker fruits. Sweet caramel, wood, vanilla, tobacco. Taste begins with sweetness but ends dry with a long bitterness. Complex but harsh. Would probably love this after a few years in the cellar.

Z butelki uderzenie bukietu winogron.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours a dark red/brown beer. Medium beige head that leaves lacing in the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, bread, plum and brown sugar. Taste is sweet malt, alcohol, raisin, plum, grass, dark fruit, a little bit orange, nuts and dark syrup. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
