4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A half finger of head on a clearer, dark amber colored body.
It smells like barley-lemon candy, which is quite nice.
The taste is sweet overall with mild lemon bitterness throughout. Thereís a slight alcohol flavor, but itís generally subtle.
The texture is thicker with low carbonation.
An enjoyable barleywine.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at 10% ABV, not 8.8% as listed. Mocha head that quickly dissipates. Deep amber body. Alcohol, red fruit, dog, cherries, Christmas cake, port-soaked raisins, fresh orange juice. Sweet, some savoury, like cheese. Dry, dusty finish. Some alcoholic burn. Fizzy. A bit rough. Reminiscent of Gold Label, as in a similar style, but better.

Pours a clear dark amber color with ruby highlites with a moderate off white head and nice legs on the glass. Aroma of prunes, caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruits, moderate pleasant alcohol. Taste is prunes, raisins and other dark dried fruits, caramel, caramelized brown sugar, molasses, light bread and complex pleasant alcohol on the finish with a nice steady warming. Full bodied and chewy, velvety texture, no harsh alcohol and a low carbonation. Rich and complex and very easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a great year round barley wine. Smells of some seriously sweet malts and I love it. Taste is smooth with a little bitterness. Really good beer but I would deduct major points for Anchorís ridiculous bottling code if I could.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark reddish amber color with a smallish tan head on it. Nose is hop-forward, which is unfortunate, since the hops smell old and past their prime, like an IPA thatís sat on the shelf for far too long. Taste is a little sweet with some caramel in there. Not actually a fan, as this didnít seem to age well. And I just picked this up off the shelf.
