Bottle from 2006, pours a beautiful dark ruby tinted deep amber color, any head from the pour is gone immediately, no lacing. Mild aroma of dark fruits and caramel, maybe a touch of molasses. Taste is smooth, alcohol is imperceptible, definitely a mouthfull, very nice and clean with a great overall warmth. A great BW, so can’t wait to see how it ages - assuming I can hold any back.

Aug 18, 2008 Bottle @ De Beiaard. Ruby brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, fruits and malts. Flavour is very nice, sweet and malty, caramel, roasted malts and fruits. Almost Trappist-like. Soft, smooth and fullbodied.

Aug 18, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Poured a dark amber color with a two finger off white head. Aroma is molasses, over-ripe fruit and caramel. Flavor has some brown sugar ,caramel and more of the fruit, with some warming alcohol on the end. Medium to full bodied with low to average carbonation. Excellent beer.

Aug 17, 2008 Brown, reddish colored brew. Sweetness in the aroma, caramel. Flavor is dark fruits, some caramel sweetness. Malty. Smooth barleywine.

Aug 15, 2008 Pours a ruby color with medium sized off-white head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, notes of fruit and molasses. Taste is of cherry cough syrup, caramel, brown sugar and alcohol. This is a bit of a brash off a barley wine which will need some she to be great. Still, not bad.

Aug 15, 2008 Sweet and syrupy with big caramel malt flavors and aroma. Alcohol warmth is noticable. Seems like a really strong Scottish ale. Definitely not for me.
