valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Dec 2, 2007 Tasting at Holiday Beerfest in Omaha: Brownish-red color with thick head. Very spicy aroma with hints of cinnamon. Warming flavor, with spices dominant (nutmeg and cinnamon most pronounced). Watery finish with some warmth in the aftertaste. Wasn’t enough ’other’ to stand up to the spice in this one for my tastes. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Dec 2, 2007 355ml brown bottle. 2007 bottling. Deep red brown colour. Sizeable thick creamy head, light beige in colour. Leaves modest lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel malt, a bit floral with traces of maple, spice and spruce (?). Toffeeish malt flavour with some roast malt, dark chocolate, a bit woody. Light roast malts, dark chocolate iand mild hops in the aftertaste. Nice winter ale. tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Dec 2, 2007 355 ml bottle. 2007. Dark brown/reddish color. Ligth brown head. For a «low-alcohol» it is very balanced and complex. Darek fruits, caramell, spices cryfreedmb (112), Ocean, New Jersey, USA Dec 1, 2007 Bottle. Nice deep red pour with a 1 inch think light brown head. Pour looks great. Aroma is of malt and multiple spices. Flavor is of malt, toffee and then an array of spicies. Slightly bitter at the end. Nice brew. A beer that is great around the Holiday’s. Not something to drink alot of or at any other time of the year. DaMenace123 (250), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 30, 2007 Dark brown pour with big head. The aroma and flavor were both dominated by ... rose. Spicy flavor. DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Nov 30, 2007 Spicy, robust, opaque, well balanced, slighty hoppy in the back of the throat, delicious with fondue or simply alone. A great American Christmas beer!!! monkeyman (57), Alabama, USA Nov 30, 2007 October 2006 bottling date; from my recall; all consumed 12-06: Can there be anything better? This is the most incredible/accessible spiced libation each and every year since 1997 (in my humble experience). Just a stunning example of the brilliance of Anchor. Methinks the Belgiums be losin’ their luster... jus’ like the Yankees... sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Nov 30, 2007 2007 from the bottle: produces a nice, thick head that consists of many micro bubbles; has a nice spicy smell and a very light and spicy, but pleasant aftertaste that hangs around for about 30 seconds. I think this is a very pleasing holiday brew.
