douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 22, 2007 Updated: Jun 2, 20082006 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a good off-white head. The body is on the thick side. It’s quite hoppy, a ton of spices, and some Christmas Tree perhaps. Not bad at all. A good brew. Easy to drink, but also complex. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Nov 21, 2007 Sweet chistmas spice nose on this dark beer. Similar taste. Smooth finish. Not bad. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2007 (2007) Pours a dark brown hue with a nice, tan head. Aroma of great Christmas cookies; cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger. Malty body gives way to spiced finish, almost like a fres gingerbread cookie. I look forward to this release every year. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2007 Draft: Pours a dark amber color with a small to not much head. This beer smelled of pine and cloves. The taste was that of the season, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. This was a great desert beer. portermax55 (118), Canterbury, Connecticut, USA Nov 19, 2007 12oz. bottle into lager glass. Pours a deep dark copper color with a medium light-tan head. Heavy aroma of grapes, nutmeg, cinnamon, and hops. Flavor is of baked apples, nutmeg, and cinnamon with a brutal spice finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and bright. I’m sure people who enjoy this style of beer would enjoy this brew, but it was to "spicey" for me. dmac (1419), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Nov 19, 2007 2007 vintage 12 oz bottle. Pours a super deep drk mahogany red with a fizzy beige head. Aroma is running all over the place with notes of hops (citrus and pine), roasted malts, earth notes and slight smoke. Medium bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Slightl bitter flavor of grainy malts, fruit (possibly apple) and a roasty finish that fades into chocolate. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 19, 2007 2005 vintage on tap at Belmont Station and also a 2007 magnum pour at Danimal’s 30th birthday party--Poured a deep chestnut-mahogany brown-amber. One or two-fingered off-white head. Spicy, nutty, gingery aroma that proved quite complex. Flavor and palate just as intriguing. Crisp and full bodied. Sweet and dry. Hints of root spices and spruce, fur, or pine needles. One of the best winter beers of all time. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Nov 18, 2007 Pours dark brown with fizzy tan head, reminiscent of a coke. Very complex aroma; oak, mace, and dark fruits. Notes of caramel, figs, and a hint of pumpkin.
