3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at the Bell House, Brooklyn. Pours a dark, almost black maroon with a medium, off-white head. Sweet-smelling aroma: lightly roasted malts, caramel, some spices. Flavor is rich and varied with strong notes of sweet, dark fruits, candies like licorice, and some slight maltiness. Also hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Really, pretty dynamic. Medium bodied with decent carbonation, the beer is easy to drink. Quite good; stands apart from the crowd.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled: Red brown head. Quite unclear. Light brown dense head. Sweet liqourice aroma. More subtle than the 04. Flavour of fruits and spices and light chocolate and liqourice. Is quite smooth and subtle, but lacs a little bit compared to the 04. Would like a little more power in the flavours and aromas. Nice one though. Had it both on bottle and tap. Tap is better than the bottle, but I havn’t taken notes of my experience.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Vintage 2005, bottle. It’s an almost black beer with a delicious, steady and creamy head. The aroma is hoppy and spicy just like the flavour, that also has notes of nutmeg, licorice, plum, pine needles and a dry, slitghtly btter finish. A nice Christmas beer.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice dark amber, very nice brownish head.
Nice compleax aroma from clove, ginger, brown sugar, some cinnamon, spices, caramel, raisins, nuts, chocolate and some roasted notes.
Flavor is a bit more hoppy, still spicy, milk and quite bitter. Bitter finish and I was hoping for a better body.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2011 2005 version: Tap, ’t Klooster Delft. Sold as "snow Anchor". Loads of clove both in aroma and flavor. Very spicy, with clove up front. Some malt and raisin. Lacks balance. 6 3 6 2 10 = 2.7
2007 version: bottle: Strong aroma of red berries, cardemom and ginger.
Spicy, yet warm alcoholic flavor with red berries. Thin. Too spicy to be really enjoyable.
2010 version: bottle. Dark brown color. Anis, dried fruit, orange peel and cardemom in the aroma. Sweet, spicy flavor with lots of citrusfruit, cinnamon, anis and cardemom. Spicy, but still satisfyingly balanced.
