4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
October 2006 bottling date; from my recall; all consumed 12-06: Can there be anything better? This is the most incredible/accessible spiced libation each and every year since 1997 (in my humble experience). Just a stunning example of the brilliance of Anchor. Methinks the Belgiums be losiní their luster... jusí like the Yankees...

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2013. Dark brown with brownish head. A tad bitter. Not to heavy on the spice. Nice to share at card night.

Can't really detect anything on the nose. Granted, this was served colder out of the tap than it should have. Waterier than I would have liked. Overall not overly impressed. Better definitely as it warms up. If I had it out of the bottle I would let it sit first before I tried it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Black Market Tavern. Appearance: dark brown color, medium sized tan-brown head, ok lacing. Aroma: ginger, cinnamon, roast, fruit, nut. Palate: medium body, light carbonation, smooth thin texture. Taste: spice, heavy sweetness. Overall a good holiday beer, but not something that will forever remind me of the holiday season either.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2012 poured from bottle to glass. Nice amber color with white head. Aroma was "holiday spices" all the way. Some caramel, sugar, slight roastiness, malty essences. Flavor was sweet initially with a bitter following. Slight astringentness from the spices in the finish. Some hop bitterness remained but really no hop character was to be found. Overall, this was a decent "holiday spiced" ale...not too overpowering, but definitely spice-centric.

A: Chocolate red ale with nearly three fingers which fall quickly to a sheet of tan. Spotty lace and excellent clarity.
S: cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Turns out, this year the holiday is pumpkin. Otherwise, some slight nutty malts.
T: Lots more spices: cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, clove. A brown/porter malt profile, which complements the spices well.
M: thin with low carb. Semi dry finish.
O: Meh, not bad. Not going back for more, however.

Draft: dark brown, aroma of sugar and spices. Peppery. There are a lot of flavors rolling around in this one. Great Christmas berry. This is amazing.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 vintage - tasted as part of local shopís weekly beer tasting so this is based only on 1 oz pour. Will edit this once I have a bottle of my own. Aroma is nice - bit of spice, followed by a bit of malt sweetness. Taste is delicious, full mouthfeel, nice spice and malt balance.

Amazingly tasty and the best Christmas Ale I have had so far. Make sure to stock up and enjoy, as itís only available for a very limited time per year. Great mixture of malts and spices.
