COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our special ale from the brewers at Anchor. It is sold only from early November to mid-January. The Ale’s recipe is different every year, but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons appears born anew.

Editor’s Note: due to the significant similarity in style and strength from year to year (despite potential differences in the exact spice blend), this beer is no longer separated by vintage.

an all time favorite. This rating applies to the 2011 edition which has aged one year. Very spicy clovy nose, loads of clove, cinnamon, orange, port. Thick brown head. Long finish, medium bitterness.

2014 Bottle: This one pours a cloudy, dark amber color. There was a finger of a light tan head. Some lacing. Good nose. Malts, holiday spices are the most predominate. Getting some dark fruits also. The taste is very good. Very rich malt body, with just a bit of sweetness, Subdues holiday spices, maybe some orange, a touch of earthy hops. Very Nice!

2014 version. On draft and the 2 L bottle. Dark brown with one finger head. Aroma of pine, spices (nut meg). Really well done and different from the more cinnamon christmas beers.

Appearance: light tan head, the beer is a very nice brown color that's transparent around the edges, some maroon hues in there Aroma: caramel malt, spicy, maybe a bit of lemon, potpourri Taste: spicy, some sweet caramel malt, even some bitterness on the finish Palate: lively carbonation, slight bitterness on the finish, medium mouthfeel Overall: this beer does remind me of Christmas, pumpkin pie, potpourri, warm spice are all in there, this is the 2014 version ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Piwo kupione w Piwo Regionalne Katowice na Mariackiej. Edycja na 2014 rok. Ciemne piwo z rubinowymi refleksjami. Piana ?adnie budzi szk?o, chocia? jest obecna tylko w postaci kr??ka. Przyprawowowy aromat - go?dziki, cynamon, ga?ka muszkata?owa, any?(chyba) i jaka? mniej s?odka przyprawa. Smak to jeden wielki festiwal przypraw. Jest piernikowy ale same piwo jest wytrawne. Poza przyprawami w tle czu? lekk? ciasteczkowo?? od s?odów. Bardzo z?o?one i bardzo dobre piwo.

Toffee, gingerbread, licorice, hints of alcohol, bitter coffee finish. Does have most qualities of a classic xmas brew, but somehow a bit unbalanced, specially by Anchor standards.

Backlog, Christmas 2014. Bottle. Dark brown with two finger tan head, dissipates quickly leaving some lacings. Wonderful aroma of pine needles, vanilla, spices, liquorice, malt. Taste about the same with a dry finish. Medium body, light to medium carbo.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2015 Keg at Brewdog Camden. A slightly hazy deep brown colour with a thick creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, aniseed, caramel and nutmeg. Taste of roasted malts, herbs, spice, liquorice and nutmeg. Light bodied and a watery texture. A crisp, herbal finish. Little thin but nice flavours.

Poured from bottle to lager glass a bottle brown with huge tan head that lasted. Plenty of tan lace. Aroma was a wonderful spice infused malt that was not overbearing. Really a nice change from the pumpkin spice bombs of the fall. There were notes of spice, vanilla, malt, and clove in the taste. Well done and something that changes a bit year to year and I look foward to it.
