COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint. Appearance: Almost black mahogany with creamy tan head and some lacing lines. Aroma: Molasses, licorice, roasted malts and some coffee and chocolate. Taste: Molasses and roasted malts co-mingle with bitter notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Turns more bitter at the finish with nice hop accents. Palate: Moderate carbonation, smooth and creamy body, very dry finish. Overall: Dry and somewhat bitter Porter that surprisingly did not overdo the roasted character to accomplish that feat. Just a very smooth, complex and drinkable Porter.

Appearance: Pours black with about a finger of light tan head. Nose: roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Taste: smokey chocolate, maybe a bit of dark fruits and a slight hoppiness. Very smooth.

Black with a couple of inches of tan head. Roasted malt, coffee and smoke nose. Quite thick, good carbonation. Plum, roasted malt and some alcohol taste.

A creamy brown head with an aroma of roasted malt and a bit of coffee and chocolate. The flavor is pretty much the taste equivalent of the aroma with a slightly stronger coffee/chocolate aftertaste. A great standard porter.

Bottle. Tidy. Pours black with a resilient beige head. Tastes of roasted dark malt and chocolate. Everything I could hope for from a porter.

Draft in a pint - pours like chilled used motor oil with tan head that disappears quickly. Aroma is coffee and all around malty like a doppelbock. Taste is sweet and mildly bitter. Aftertaste is noticeably hoppy. A tasty style but not for me.

En lätt wärldsporter där den mörka malten spelar första fiolen men lämnar tillräckligt med utrymme åt humle att få glänsa också. Torrare, men också något tunnare efter lagring. Mycket öl för pengarna drar upp betyget.

Pours a deep brown body with a lively tan head. Sweet, smokey flavor. Some chocolate, raisins, and bitter coffee. Very dry finish.
