COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Very traditional porter ..... wich is good. No head, roasty smokey nose. Pitch black. Simple straight forward taste. Rather flat, short finish. Good overall.

Gelungen.

Bottled: MCreamy off-white head, black color. Aroma is full of molasse, caramel, hints of banana. Flavor is light sourly, caramelic, ripe bananas, candies and roasted malt. Finish with roasted malts.

Bomber from Binny’s.....pours almost black with thick light tan head. First nose and taste is licorice...which eases off to the roasted barley and hints of chocolate. I know it’s a porter but feels more like a stout than some stouts....very good

Bottle at De Paas, The Hague. Chocolate, coffee, roast malts and caramel. A little too much carbonation stops it from being great

12oz bottle. Very dark, tan/white head. Satisfyingly smokey aroma. Slightly fruity aroma, maybe blueberry. Somewhat sweet taste, slightly salty and savory as well. A nice, unique beer, with a pleasant and different aroma.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2011 Great porter. To the palate it feels almost perfect, with enough creaminess to it but still refreshing enough, just the way it should be. It is very flavorful, with chocolate, coffee, caramel, licorice, dried fruits (raisins, for example) and roasted malts providing most of the thrill. Overall it’s just pleasing on every front. I hope they keep the supply of this steady, because I’ll definitely want more of it for years to come.

Black, with a foamy, lasting, and lacy tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate and butterscotch. Taste is roasted and a bit bitter and sweet. Medium-full bodied and somewhat creamy. Good stuff.
