COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle. Pours nice and dark. A white head, moderate lacing. Aromas of chocolate milk, dark chocolate and roasted notes. A bit of underlying licorice as well. Taste is lots of roasted notes at first, followed by a soft chocolate and some coffee. Body was a bit too carbonated, and the flavors were a bit weak, but still a very good porter.

Bottle pours deep brown with a khaki head. Aroma shows notes of roasted malt, chocolate, light coffee, plum, and raisin. Flavor shows the same with a little extra black cherry and smoke. Overall body is moderate and soft.

Bottle. Appearance: Deep ruby and brown, almost black with a thick off white head. Aroma: Overripe apples, raisins, good amount of chocolate and a drop of coffee. Flavour: Raisins and chocolate, like a tiffin bar, quite sour too, wine like yet very sweet, quite a complex balance between its sweetness and sourness, tangy coffee finish. Very enjoyable.

The beer pours a very dark brown color with a tan head. A very nice looking porter. The aroma is heavy on the raisins. but there is also some roasted malt and chocolate mixed in. Besides the raisins, there is some other dark fruit mixed in, including dark cherries. The flavor is raisins, dark fruit, grapes and roasted malt. I also get a little bit of anise and some iced tea notes. Very strange, but it all works pretty well together. I have had this beer numerous times and I never remembered it having this flavor profile. There is a little bit of charred malt/smoke at the end of the flavor when the beer warms. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

In the glass is a deep black porter, with a high creamy head.Smells toffee and bitter coffee. Starts complex malty, very chocolaty roasted malt and bitter, with a pleasant coffee flavor in the background. It’s leaving again very chocolaty bitter taste. The further course is dominant and chocolaty coffee-like bitter malty

This one has a salty sea smell that reminds me of a balitc porter. It pours with a pretty good head of larger little bubbles. Quite dark. This has a really good flavour like in homebrew, the layers are at once thick and individual but all play well with one another. It leaves an impression of % and some chewey black malts to savor. Some hops in the end. Actually there is quite a bit of hops there. This is pretty darn good as far as a standard porter goes.
