San Franciscoís famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

This beer is really smooth it went down nice, it had a nice dark color and poured a good strong head that held well. This beer was not to bitter and it was easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355 ml bottle. Pours black with great brown head, that is disapearing pretty quick. In aroma itís coffee and chocolate. Oily texture, bittersweet afterstaste. Very drinkable.

12 oz bottle pour. Pours black with a fluffy tan head. Very rich milk chocolate aroma with some malt too. Flavor is pretty rich at first. Full of chocolate flavor with a long, roasted finish to it. This is really not what I was expecting from this, not that itís a bad thing. I honestly have trouble really saying how I feel about this beer. It is missing something that I love about porters, but I canít quite figure out what it is. I enjoyed this beer nonetheless. High drinkability and decent flavor. Would I put it in my top list of porters? I would not, though that is some stiff competition. Iím sure Iíll drink this again some day. Not bad.

pretty intense aroma of coffee and chocolate, roastiness is also pretty significant. Very nice, but could have been stronger. pours black with big head, that disappears a bit too quickly. Taste is mildly bitter, lightly sweet, quite thick. Overall isít a very nice beer, really smooth, carbonation is pretty low which makes it a good session beer.

Well it is said to be a porter, It is a porter aged with plum. Funny, but it has a strong plum aroma, like if I would place a dried plum into the beer for hours. Head nice, brownish, aroma of plum, plum jam. OK, I must be crazy, but this is a plum porter.

355 mL bottle. Looks like a porter. Smells mostly like a porter. Tastes like a porter, only more fruity (yeast?) and less roasty. Good, not great.

Beczka na Poznańskich Targach Piwnych. Aromat kawy i czekolady, bardzo intensywny. Piana obfita, gęsta, bardzo drobna, bardzo trwała o jasno brązowej barwie. Kolor piwa niemal czarny.

Roasted sunflower seeds, a bit of chocolate and coffee. Pitch black with big, brown head. Taste is full, with some porter-like sweetness and lightly bitter.

Bottled 03/08/2012. Not sure why but I ended up aging this one. Pours pitch black with tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is tons of chocolate, kinda boozy, ;roasted malts. Flavor is awesome. I didnít know how itíd hold up but damn. What a surprise. Delicious. Not weak bodied at all like I expected. Flavor has lots of chocolate in it. Some vanilla and some booze too. Almost a barrel-aged quality? Hard to describe. Really sweet up front and a slight coffee bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from local BD. Pours a thick, dark brown. Big, thick, caramel colored head that fades slowly. Malty, bready smell. Velvety mouthfeel. Slightly sweet at first, then quickly turns to a toasty caramel and coffee flavor. The finish lingers very long.
