COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

An amazing stout. Pour black with an awesome, pillowy head, which turns into nice lacing. Aromas are not significant at first...but as the beer warms notes of caramel and banana hit the nose. On the palate, espresso, followed by a nice sweetness...again, I get caramel and bananas. Nice slightly bitter finish. Amazing beer!!!

355 ml. bottle. Black colour with dark brown hues. Thick, creamy tanned head that fades to a fat cap and leaves a good lacework. Sweet and roasted aroma with hops, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Light sweet taste with roasted notes of coffee, dark dried fruits and chocolate. Medium body with a creamy texture. Finished long lasting with a hoppy, bitter chocolate note. An excellent, well balanced porter, that states a beer do not need to be extreme to be well made. Love it!

Anchor Porter has a thick, creamy, beige head and a dark, black (ruby, under light) appearance, with lots of lacing. The aroma is initially neutral, but as the beer warms, one detects prunes, other dark fruits, and hops. Taste is very bold, with licorice, prunes, dark cherries, fruit, hop bitterness, chocolate, dark coffee, and malt across the taste. Mouthfeel is heavy, and Anchor Porter finishes mostly dry and bitter. This is a wonderful beer. RJT

Bottle to pint glass. Pours a dark brown / ruby color which is mostly opaque. Sparse tan head. Lots of roasted malt flavors going on, and maybe some fruit like dates or plums. Another nicely done porter.
