San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a medium tall brown head; aroma of roast, stewed fruit, balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish; quite nice

This dark, dark brown Porter vergers on black with a thick dark tan head. It contains deep roasted coffee and nutty malt flavors. It is well carbonated and fizzy on the palate. It is much lighter than I expected it to be, which is not an unpleasant thing. This is a great, great beer.

0,35l Flasche. Schwarzes Bier mit einer festen cremigen Schaumkrone. Ein intensiver Duft nach Röstmalzen; schmeckt dementsprechend nach stark geröstetem Getreide, dennoch gut abgerundet.

Vigorous frothy 2" tan head, short lived with moderate lacing. Dark deep brown and clear. Moderate to strong roasted and chocolate malt aroma, some floral detected. Strong roasted malt balances with sweet and low hop character (although in the high range of scale for porters-a good thing for my taste). Finishes clean but with some nutty notes. Not as thick body as I was expecting. Great overall example of a bold American porter beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not as smokey as I usually like a Porter, but really deep, rich coffee and toffee flavours make up for it. Choclaty aroma, and opaque black appearance without much of a head. Good Porter.

Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours dark nearly opaque brown with a decent layer of tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Taste of caramel up front with hints of roastiness.

355ml bottle. Clasic porter pour. The smell is bubble gum and tootsie roll, huge turnoff. Flavor is better, still bitingly sweet and candylike despite the abv. Lots of butterscotch, english hop and yeast character, subtle finishing bitterness that is grassy, very few standard porter notes. Unfortunately a bit of a stinker. Edit, it get worse and worse... Keeping on drinking it... dont want a drain pour it is sickening.
