COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

motor oil color with disappearing creamy head, aroma of raisin, caramel, bread with minimal carbonation; nice mouthfeel, sweet taste, could use a little more alcohol and hops but very enjoyable indeed

Bottle: Pours almost black, with a pillow of tan to brown head. Roasted malt aroma, with some chocolate on the finish. A nice porter.

Dark frothy head that looks like a ice cream float and lasted a while. Nice cascade. Nutty aroma. I notice a bitter malty flavor. This is a really good beer.

(bottle) The Keg_Juggler pick of the week. I think this would be a good sample of the style, except I just finished a superior example in Long Trail’s Imperial Porter. This porter is milky, well roasted and rich. Malt forward in style and slightly watery. Very nice, but I must hold back from the cumulative accolades received.

Bottle @ home. Deep black pour, medium lightly brown head. Aroma is strong roasted malt. Flavour is light dry bitterness, hint of sweetness, hint of smoke. Nice but a bit boring.

Dark colour with a low brown foam. On the nose there is some milkchocolate, bread and overall a nice chocolate malt flavour. This beer is really well balanced, perfect between sweetnes and bitternes. Good brewing! There is almost a breadflavour to it, with topnotes of the floral kind.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark as expected. Thin tan head. Aroma of dark, dried stone fruit. Bit of chocolate. Malty sweetness. Caramel. Taste is a fruity malt up front, giving way to the caramel. No real roast. Bit of twang. Good, viscous mouthfeel. I know this one is a classic, but not for me. Not what I’m looking for out of ny porters.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Opaque dark brown beer, beige head. Roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. Taste is quite dry with slight bitterness, roasted malts and chocolaty end. Nice porter indeed!
