COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours a deep red with a lasting head. Maybe some caramel, dark malts, wants me to dive in. The beer leaves a taste with me that just makes me want more and more, perhaps I’ve found a new go to session? I’m tasting a bit of coffee maybe... overall delicious.

Most excellent stuff. Quite rich and flavorful. Plenty of mouth feel but lets up just the right amount. Very drinkable. Serving: Bottle

Pours a deep dark mahogany with a long lasting tan head. Nose is roasted malts, caramel. Taste is roasted malt, sweet caramel some hints of roasted esspresso and some bitterness. Palate is full body, thick texture, with good carbonation. Finish is bitter sweet caramel malts, with some roasted esspresso. Overall a well balanced and tasty brew.

Great caramel malt sweetness, terrific body, and nice cloudy dark toffee color. One of the best porters I’ve had in a long time-wish it was more widely available.

Poured black with an extremely thick tan head that didn’t dissolve, but folded in on itself. Body is smooth and not too heavy. Has hints of coffee and lots of roasted grain. I can’t say I’ve had a better porter.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours dark brown with a great looking 1.5" creamy, tan head. Retention was decent and lasted about a quarter of the way through. S: A nice balance of coffee and roasted chocolate with a hint of sweetness. T: Great balance of bitterness with sweetness from the dark fruit taste. Not too rich with just the right flavor for a good American porter. M/D: It goes down nice and smooth. With plenty of complex flavors, and low ABV, I could definitely drink a few of these in one sitting. I love this porter because it’s available locally here in MS where there aren’t many good beers to choose from due to the ABV limits. This has become my go to beer for quality and availability

Bottle. Pours an almost-black opaque dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is smokey dark roasted malts, some bitter coffee. Taste is somewhat sweet to begin with smoke, roasty/burnt malts, coffee and chocolate. Ends nicely bitter. Great porter.

Bottled (too small bottle). It is almost black, little and firm brown head. Roasted nose. Aroma is roasted malts with coffee hints. Flavour is malt, dark chocolate with liqourice. Finishes the same, the long lasting aftertaste makes it perfect for slow snipping. One of the best beers I ever had!
