COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

One of the most interesting north american porters I’ve ever had. One the one hand, you get the coffee/cacao robustness you expect, along with a refreshing hit of bitterness. The surprising and quite pleasing aspect that made this memorable was just how much flavor and texture this ale has while being so light on body and weight. I highly recommend all of the Anchor beers, but this one is the most interesting to me.

Bottle, Csakajosor.hu. Poured with deep-ruby, almost black color and a beige head that reduced to a fine coating on top. Strong roasted aroma with hints of chocolate, coffee, plum, licorice, and hops. Smooth texture with enough carbonation, this beer is easy on the palate, pleasant. Sweet, sticky finish with some roasted and bitter aftertaste. Good!

Poured a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams senosry glass. Dark maroon/opague color. Head is a nice fluffy tan color. Lace is pretty good. Aroma is of chocolate and roasted honey nut. Taste is of honey and roasted sweetness carmel. Mouthfeel is very smooth and the alcohol becomes present at the end. Overall, this is an excellent porter. Great to the style, a nice honey and carmel taste makes this a great brew! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-27-2008 07:53:16

35.5cl bottle from Systembolaget. Best before June 2010. No batch info. It poured a pitch black colour with a huge off-white creamy head. Aroma is malty with lots of caramel and roasted nuts. Hints of roasted coffee as well. The flavour is smooth. Lots of malts, barley, caramel and roasted coffee again. Some dark berries as well. Short aftertaste.

Dark brown with a tiny bit of ruby around the edges, soft tan head that grips the glass. Medium roastyness with a cocoa coffee edge, with a slightly noticable hop bitterness. Med-light bodied and very smooth. Overall a rich yet balanced, drinkable yet very tasty, even complex.

Bottled @ Draft House, Northcote Rd. SW11. Pours almost black in colour with light tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt, coffee taste with a bitter finish. Light mouth feel with fizzy carbonation. Bitter finish. Not my favourite porter.

Bottle. Pours a very dark ruby red color, that almost looks black. The head is frothy and tan/brown with alot of big bubbles. Aroma is mostly of roasted malt, along with some grains, coffee and a slight amount of dark fruit. Flavor is of roasted malt, slight amount of coffee and chocolate, toasted bread and dark fruit. I also get some tart fruitiness along with some hops. Body is medium and slightly creamy. Overall a good porter, that reminds me a little of the Samuel Smith Taddy Porter.
