COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Franciscoís famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

0.356 cl bottle. Pours dark brown, with brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, liquorice. Beautiful porter. Medium to full bodied. Complex, hoppy and refreshing. This is porter is a standard for me. A perfect combination of texture, taste, aroma and looks.

Earthy, roasty, slightly sweetish. Dark almost black with a thick, creamy, foamy long lasting head that leaves tons of lacing clinging all the way up the glass. A little lighter bodied than it looks. Very well balanced. Roasted malt. Toasted bread. A hint of hops to give a crisp finish. A classic porter. Nice.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very dark ruby color. A shit ton of head is formed - itís three fingers high, and light tan in shade. Itís also pretty long lasting, with a rocky texture and some great lacing left behind. S: Thereís actually a lot going on here. The very first thing I notice is some plummy dark fruits and some chocolate. Backing that is a healthy yet subtle hop note. And thereís also a decent amount of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Itís not the biggest nose ever, but who cares? Itís contemplative and inviting nonetheless. T: The very first sip is chocolaty. The second sip is fruitier in tone yet with a hoppy finish. The third sip sees the hops mingle with the subtle roast to create a great coffee flavor. Some licorice flavors also appear. Itís not suffocatingly complex; rather all the flavors are quite defined and readily noticeable...making its delicate balance all the more impressive. M: Drinkability is the key here: itís light in body and dry on the back end, with only a touch of lingering sweetness. Carbonation is actually pretty low, allowing said sweetness to appear. O: This is probably the best robust (hoppy) porter Iíve had. Everythingís in good balance, yet the flavors stand out quite well. I could see this becoming a go-to porter.

355ml bottle. Deep black colour, with thick, creamy beige head. Notes note of deep toasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Creamy and smooth with a hint of hoppy bitterness. Full body, but highly drinkable.

Bottle 0,355L. Black as night, with big thick, light brown head. Aroma is suprisingly light: roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. And maybe some tiny smoke note. Taste starts moderate bitter with dark chocolate and smoke. Finish is heavy bitter, with smooth mouthfeel. Full bodied beer with oily texture, but lack of aroma to be perfect.

A very good beer. Pours almost like syrup with creamy head. Head doesnít stick around very long, which is too bad. Smells of mocha, molasses, coffee, tabacco and at the same time tropical fruit. Very surprising. Taste is dry and refreshing, with lots of those coffee and malt flavors. Good near the end of a meal with hard cheese platters and dessert. Not a good pizza or pasta beer, nor a good before dinner beer.
