4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from bottle into glass. Nutty, rich, coffee aroma. Very dark brown, almost black. Full head, creamy and nice. Picked up hints of California hops, but very malt forward. Very rich tasting, sweet and somewhat heavy. A lingering silkiness as it covers the palate. Overall, a wonder tasting porter. Very much a true tasting porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Very deep brown. Reasonably clear. Thick, persistent tan head. Caramel roasted malt nose. Chocolate and coffee. All roasted malt. Off dry. Not sour. Low to moderate bitterness. Roasted malt flavors. Not as dark as the Mill Valley Porter. Almost half way between stout and dark or brown ale. Medium dense to dense palate. Slightly hollow.
Not sure this is classic Porter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Pour is black with a thin light brown head, good lacing. Smell is dark roast, coffee, spice and smoke. Also takes on a yeasty note, like a Belgian ale. Taste is dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, hops and smoke. Almost like a stout but a bit less viscous, good none the less.

Dark black red body with a tan head that dissipates. Dark chocolate, coffee and caramel aroma. Some hoppy biterness in the taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep brown with a thick light tan colored head of 1 finger. The smell is sweet (molasses and caramel) and roasty with notes of chocolate and coffee. The taste was lightly sweet with a malty roastiness and hints of toffee and chocolate in the beginning, becoming more bitter with a bit of coffee. There is a mild dark fruit undertone as well with a hoppy finish. There is a medium mouth feel with good carbonation and a dry finish. This is a nice porter. A little more hoppy than I prefer in a porter/stout, but that does not detract from the quality of the beer.

A lovely beer this, Anchor just never disappoint. Rather light I think in style but then the true style of Porter is a mystery anyway. Buy it, try it, love it. Nuff said.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: Pineapple, coffee and dark fruits with a hint of chocolate.
Appearance: Black with thin, deep-red edges. Small dissipating off-white head.
Taste: Slightly sour grapefruit start leading to a roasty, slightly smoked coffee end.
Palate: Medium-light body, slightly oily with fairly strong carbonation and a short smooth roasty finish.
Overall: Lovely smelling, clean porter.
