pineypower (897), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2004 Updated: Dec 4, 2007 Everyone always said this was a good porter, and it is. It pours out dark black with a chocolate fruity aroma. There is little to no head to speak of. It tastes like dark chocolate mixed with a smoky fruit flavor. The finish is very smooth, not too heavy, not in the least bit watery. A great porter!
cblado (89), Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a deep, dark mahogany color. Nice tan head, too. Aroma was malted barley, some coffee notes. Flavor was robust, with rich chocolate and roasty coffee notes coming through. Palate was excellent, a thickness that didn’t get in the way but carried the flavors nicely. I plan on getting some more of this. flatmatt (99), Northville, Michigan, USA Oct 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours nearly opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aromas of sweet dark fruits (tons of raisin and red grape), caramel, chocolate. Flavor follows suit with the dark fruits and chocolate, then some roastiness. Clean finish. gameface23 (116), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Oct 5, 2008 Very dark pour with an off-white head that left nice lacing. Aroma was weak, consisting mainly of muted malt and coffee. Taste was better, with a mix of chocolate and coffee and some roastiness/smokiness. bretupdegraff (101), Fishers, Indiana, USA Oct 3, 2008 poured dark brown with nice head that disapated to a thin head that lasted forever. didn’t get much aroma but my smeller may not be working too well. Flavor is great - creamy and chocolate/malt/coffee - nice little bite in the aftertaste to mix it up - awesome palate - Very good and I plan to get some more of this stocked up. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Oct 3, 2008 From bottle. Poured dark brown with thin brown head. Big chocolate and coffee smells. Sweet coffee flavors with a chocolate finish. Classic Anchor.
