San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottled. A very dark red-brown - almost black - with a small light brown head. Boozy aromas of chocolate, black cherry, dried fruit, and just a hint of coffee. All those aromas a present in the mouth too; a sweet start with a drier, slightly smoky finish. Excellent.

Strong aroma. Roasted. Dark black. Kinda creamy. Aftertaste is very reminiscent of coffee. I dont know if this is the right word, but there is something pure about this. Well done.

Bottle @ home. Marrone, velata, con schiuma beige finissima, e persistente. Aroma piuttosto intenso.

Pours black with a visible fizz and very little head. Smells like treacle with a hint of black cherry. Slightly too fizzy but fades to a pleasant creaminess. Treacly taste with slight hint of cherry. (K)

355ml bottle from the LCBO. Dec 14. Black opaque body with a thin beige head. Mostly roasty flavors, extremely sessionable, an oily texture which was perfect for the style and purpose of the beer.

Bottle from Seoul Plaza. Aroma dark roasted, chocolate, light fruity. Clear colour, very dark, moderately thick texture. Moderately stable head. Taste is very smooth and nicely balanced. Equal intensity malty sweetness, toffee, fruity flavours, and dark bitter roasted, chocolate flavours. Finishes bitter with a definite hops presence, grassy. True to style and very enjoyable beer.
