COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Quite a wonderful beer. For those of us not entranced with sweet porters, this brew is perfect, as the coffee flavors tend to prevail. This is one of the few beers that actually improves in taste thoughout the second glass. The bottled version is excellent, but the tap is sublime.

slight citrus note in the aroma, along with syrupy chocolate notes. quite sweet for me, but the body helps absorb that to an extent. medium body with medium carbing, makes it stay on the tongue long enough to bring you back to the glass.

Rich and very flavorful. roasty, black, frothy, medium bitterness, creamy. One of the best porters out there.

This was the first porter my husband and I tried and we got hooked. It has a wonderful, solid flavor with a nutty aftertatse that I love. Definately a good one to try if first starting out on porters: rich and smooth. There are better ones out there, but this one is awesome. Best on tap.

Pours very dark brown with think head. Has coffe smell and chocolate taste. Very great taste with smooth ending. One the best beers I have had and thebest Porter I have had.

Pours out a nice solid black, ruby is only hinted at when held directly in front of light. Big light-brown head quickly bubbles up. Nose is evident of dark fruits (plums, raisons) with delicate chocolate and coffee tones backing it up. Definately a unique tasing porter, a lot more of dark fruity tones in the taste than the usual chocolate/coffee flavors standard to a porter. Sweet all the way through with light pangs of earthy bitterness at the edges. Aftertaste is long-lasting sweet and dense with light tones of grapeskin. Mouthfeel seems a tad light, but it’s tolerable. Deep, sweet, fruity, and robust..a complex and lovely porter.

I’m impressed by the drinkability of this beer; for a porter, it’s not excessively thick. A good balance between hops and malt. Jet black and creamy appearance, with quickly disappearing foam. If you’re in the mood for a porter, this one won’t let you down

really nice, but really expensive, not too sure about the level of maltiness, could be a bit more of a bitter taste
