COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours close to black with a frothy tan head. Aroma has rich chocolate malts with some roastiness and vanilla cream. Medium body with lots of smoothness and moderate carbonation. Taste starts with roasted malt with vanilla notes with some chocolate as well. Very velvety. The finish has a bit of spice and charred malt. Very nicely done porter.

bottle - Pours black with a moderate, fluffy tan head that leaves some nice lacing. The aroma features roast coffee maltiness. The flavor has the roast malt of the style with plenty of espresso and chocolate notes and a good hops balance. The body is medium to full and the finish on the dry side. Excellent porter.

Bottle. Pours a clear and dark mahogany beer with a large offwhite head. The aroma is malt, fruit and roasted notes. The flavor is close to the nose with some additional notes of acidity. The palate is sweetness with some dryness. Overall an average beer.

Just as good as Anchor Steam! The taste was kind of like those malt balls you get at the movie theatre. Very creamy and frothy. Very yummy!

Pour a black with a tan to light brownish head which quickly dissipates. Aroma is mild without much distinction. Initial taste is hoppy, as it should be--nothing special, but the finish is what makes this beer. The finish is incredibly smooth and sort of relaxing in a way. The aftertaste is good. The palate is a full-bodied beer. A pretty good brew.

The beer pours a very dark brown color with a tan head. A very nice looking porter. The aroma is heavy on the raisins. but there is also some roasted malt and chocolate mixed in. Besides the raisins, there is some other dark fruit mixed in, including dark cherries. The flavor is raisins, dark fruit, grapes and roasted malt. I also get a little bit of anise and some iced tea notes. Very strange, but it all works pretty well together. I have had this beer numerous times and I never remembered it having this flavor profile. There is a little bit of charred malt/smoke at the end of the flavor when the beer warms. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
