COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Very dark pour with a small tan head that dissolved rather soon. Taste is rich with roasted maltiness, molasses, coffee, and chocolates. Solid taste throughout the glass, excellent porter.

The first porter I ever had. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a fairly large head. very smooth and chocolatey like flavor. A nice sweet caramel finish and roasted malts.

Almost black in colour. Aroma was of sweet chocolate, slight grains and malt. Flavour was sweet with some chocolate and a little roasty. Finishes sweet with a clean medium bitterness.

bottle. Anchor porter is a deep, near-black opaque red with a great frothy, dense head. Sweet cream aroma, very crisp, with a bit of coffee. The flavor is identifiableu from any other porter I’ve had. It’s a creamy vanilla taste with the roasty backbone of a porter. Refreshing and sturdy at the same time. Solid lacing on this one.

22oz bottle 4/17/09-Pours black with a decent head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of the same with a little sweetness added. This medium to full bodied brew is very well balanced and quite tasty. Great porter.

Bottled. Pours an opaque blackish brown with a dense and lacy brown head. The aroma is loaded with chocolate, caramel, and smoke. The body is creamy, almost full with fine carbonation. The taste starts with some sweetness featuring coffee, chocolate, caramel, and a lingering smokey bitter finish.

bottle at home 10Feb11 pours opaque black with a medium brown head. Aroma is full on roast and bitter cocoa, smells very rich and robust. Flavor is rich and coats my mouth with loads of burnt sugar, caramel, tootsie rolls and a nutty character that reminds me of hazelnuts. Nice porter with lots of flavor.

Dark beer with small tan head. Nose has chocolate and milk with hints of roast. Flavor is very nice: bitter roasts and licorice give way to sweet chocolate malts. Gets more bitter and ashy as it warms. Enjoyable, perhaps even unique, but not a favorite.
