COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Apariencia: De un negró bastante intenso oscuro con espuma cremosa Aroma: A chocolate y café con un ligero toque a lúpulo. Sabor: A café, malta tostada con notas de vainilla. Genialmente hecha.

Pitch black with huge brown head. Heavy aroma of sour cherries, chocolate, coffee. Tasting first hits you with a huge load of roasted coffee, then a pleasant bitterness, then sweet milk chocolate. Unlike other porters that are clean and dry, this is much closer to a stout with a fuller, more luscious body and on the sweeter side. Long coffee aftertaste. Creamy smooth mouthfeel like all Anchor brews. Delicious.

feel like i’ve had this a million times and just not getting to rate it. good roasty malt character. a little on the bittersweet and hoppy side of things but that adds a little more excitement to what you usually get in a porter these days. well made beer. single from total wine.

From a six pack. Pours a dark black body and a thick light brown head. Aroma is of espresso, chocolate and malted barley. Taste is of malt and cocoa. Mouthfeel is between a porter and a stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark, dark fruits followed by some bitter chocolate. Like a dry Fruits of the Forest Gateaux. A ludicrously luscious porter. Smooth as a snooker ball & black as a moonless night. Rated by BrewTom

Tap at the Brewhouse, Sheffield. Clear, chestnut brown. Thin, tan head. Can’t imagine I can add anything that’s not already been said. A lovely porter. Smooth. Fruity. Dry. Good stuff

Famous American porter with deeply beige (almost brown) foam, thick and creamy, and a near to black colour with a copperish hue. Rich malty aroma, chocolatey and caramel-like with lots of dark fruits and appetising spicy notes; taste likewise, a deep, soft, mellow, almost buttery dark maltiness, caramel and chocolate, dark fruits, finish toasted bitterness with an oily, vinous mouthfeel - or should I say, throatfeel. Absolutely delicious, a pity it’s hard to get in Western Europe, otherwise I’d have this every week.

Very dark brown with stable, beige head. Aroma has chocolate and caramel, roasted malt also. Flavour has brown sugar and discrete, vinous alcohol. Good one.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 drank it @ Eldorado in Zurich. nice dark brown colour. texture of a stout but sweeter. drink cool, but not cold (10-12°C) hints of chocolate, rasted malts and caramel. "buttery" and long finish. not watery at all, just very nice.
