2.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Words that come to mind...Prune Juice...Cough Medicine....Robitussin, Anise. Very strong initial flavor, long bland finish. Unfortunately, when you don’t like the taste, neither one of those things are a good thing. Really liked the aroma though.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Time to taste the classic porter. Dark brown color, firm and dense head, creamy. Aroma is not as strong as expected. Roasted malt, hints of dark chocolate. Taste and palte: bitter chocolate and coffee with quite a lot of bitterness. Long finish. A "must have" as a perfectly balanced porter.

Bottle pour dark black with brown highlights. Nose sweet malt and soy sauce. Taste bitter up front followed by roast. Some mid palate sweet and high bitter finish. Possibly a bad bottle but just wasn’t feeling this one.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A decent enough Porter with nice well balanced flavor typical of the style, unfortunately just not a favorite style of mine. Easily forgettable in my mind.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I had this at Global Brew. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Taste coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. I thought this was not good (don't like coffee). I wouldn't drink this again.

Bottle from the Wellington Inn, Hull. Mahogany body with a frothy tan head. Sweet red fruit aroma. Quite a fruity taste at first too before licorice and coffee in the finish. A bit too sweet for my tastes, but otherwise a nice beer.

Pitch black thick pour with thick khaki head. Nutty and roasty aroma. Medium licorice and coffee notes. Boozy throughout. Not your traditional chocolate/coffee bomb In the flavor. A nog like flavor. Pretty sweet finish.

Black with creamy mocca head. Black chocolate, dried red fruits, cranberry, almost burnt toast. Taste is nicely balanced between sweet, tart and burnt-bitter. Medium-light bodied with average carbonation. Tasty and very drinkable, love it.

Aroma of burnt malt, coffee, cookie.
Pours black with light brown head, which isn’t lasting too long.
Taste is good bitter and sour. Some caramel.
Long lasting aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Breeze Thru - amazed never rated this one before. Pours a very dark brown with a chocolate milk head leaving some bits of lace. Aroma has dark chocolate, caramel, some molasses, some espresso and some plastic. Taste is of bittersweet chocolate, roast, sweet molasses and brown sugar and black patent malts with some earthiness. Medium bodied. Finishes to the sweet side of bittersweet. A touch of that anchor water flavor. Shrug? Had better and worse bottles of this one, so probably properly rated.
