COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Nice bottle! Pours almost black. Thick lasting head, nice lacing. Nose is malt/sweet, hinting chocolate and licorice. Thick mouthfeel, smooth and creamy. Roasty malt and bittersweet chocolate with a good dose of licorice. Finishes slightly bitter. VERY nice porter. Good job guys!

Strong coffee aroma with chocolate undertones. Not too thick for a porter, which is good, because I couldn’t stop drinking this stuff. Rich mocha flavor with a subtle hops kick. A little more carbonated than I expected. Could be the best porter I’ve had yet.

This is a superb example of what I think a porter is all about. Fruity, super dark with roasted malts, and just the right hint of hops. Super nice head and lacing. An excellent beer from October - March

Reach for the stars creamy head in a tan color...long lasting. Aroma like a fine perfume. Ink black color. Bitter chocolate with strong coffe mouthing then some hops to hold onto ones aftertaste. A great porter. If there’s better,I can’t wait to find it!!

THE Porter. Not all sweet and syrupy...nice and dry with a superb finish. One of the few beers I’ve come across worth its price.

Black in colour with a thin creamy head. Aroma of dark fruit and roasted malts. Flavour is dominated by burnt, treacley malt flavours and a little smoke. Smooth silky texture and a dry but easy aftertaste make this a great beer.

Anchor Brewing has always been a favorite of mine. Going back when I first stared with their Liberty Ale and working my way up to Old Foghorn. It’d been awhile since I cracked open an Anchor Porter so I thought I’d give it a go. Pours out a rich, creamy thick tanish/brown head which stayed the course while drinking. Color of the beer is a deep chocolate brown color, with some light bubbles sticking to the sides. Flavor is dark chocolate, some roasted coffee, molasses and toffee. Flavors were more of the same with the nose but an added hop profile to keep it lively and interesting. This is an excellent example of what a porter can be. Drinkable, rich, smooth, and not overbearing in anyway. A near masterpiece from a phenomenal brewery.
