COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint. Appearance: Almost black mahogany with creamy tan head and some lacing lines. Aroma: Molasses, licorice, roasted malts and some coffee and chocolate. Taste: Molasses and roasted malts co-mingle with bitter notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Turns more bitter at the finish with nice hop accents. Palate: Moderate carbonation, smooth and creamy body, very dry finish. Overall: Dry and somewhat bitter Porter that surprisingly did not overdo the roasted character to accomplish that feat. Just a very smooth, complex and drinkable Porter.

Bottle. Dark brown big head. Massive chocolate and soft roasted, sweet also. So smooth in the mouth again chocolate and dark malt. Maybe just a subtle alcohol feel, but this beer is delicious! One of the best porters I ve tried.

Very dark beer, with a creamy head. Light maltiness with a balance of hops. Definite aromas of coffee. Nice amount light bitterness to the finish. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Not for the faint of heart, this is a heavy duty porter. Pours black as night and comes with a heavy, smoky flavor. The perfect beer for a winter night.

Appearance: very dark brown, with a hint of ruby when held directly against the light; light brown creamy head that persisted, leaving light lacing. Aroma: chocolate, caramel and vanilla coffee creamer, dusty leather, with a hint of piney hops. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, cream, a whisper of hops and green wood. Finish: smooth, creamy, dry and mellow, with a hint of bitter dark chocolate and dust the last flavors. Notes: Wonderful porter. Flavors are mild, yet delicious. Palate is creamy-smooth and mellow.

Really good smooth and rich porter. Nice mouthfeel, taste is more "fresh" than in most porters.

33 cl bottle from "Il regno di Gambrinus". Served into an english half pint. Pours a dark ruby red/brown with a nice and big beige head that last long. Mindblowing lacing. Lovely aroma of dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, smoke, burnt malts and liquorice. Goes down extremeley smooth thanks an awesome creamy and almost liquorous. The carbonation is soft and the finish is smokey/sweet and dry. Wow, this is a fantastic beer, I want at least a bomber of this stuff! Delicious.

355ml bottle. Dark brown with a creamy head. Initially I get a sort of musty, aniseed-like aroma rising up. Dark fruits and chocolate swimming in the taste; different to the English porters I’ve had but everything seems so well balanced. Little bit of alcohol heat in the finish. Superb.
