COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2004 Decadent flavor sets the tone: a thick, tasty brew that one could drink forever. Solid in every respect, although the sticky mouthfeel/aftertaste might be a little much if you're trying to talk to someone. Also, the flavor could be somewhat stronger.

Chocolate, carmel and raisins jump out on this one, tasted very fresh, probably due to living in California. Very nice on the palate. Very good.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2005 i loved this beer, very dark with some rubis reflection with a small creamy head and smell like mocha and hops. The taste is great and robust for a porter, rosted, mocha and creamy, one of the best porter i ever tasted.

Anchor Porter: Drank out of Sam Adams glass Pour: It pours an almost black color but with a reddish color around the bottom where just a little bit of light shines through. The carbonation doesn’t seem to be too high but it is hard to tell due to the darkness of the beer. The beer has a massive three finger head with creamy consistency on top but a soapy consistency on bottom. The head seems to linger a pretty long while. Aroma: Chocolate is the forefront aroma with a backbone of roasted malts. I don’t really get any alcohol smell which boosts my optimism for tasting this beer. First taste: Although chocolate is the most pronounced note in the aroma the roasted malted barley is the main taste. The chocolate provides a nice accent to the malts but what really gives this drink its unique flavor is the combination of barley and hops. It has a nice refreshing flavor with somewhat of a thin slippery mouth feel to it. There is a nice quaint bittersweet finish to it that seem to end abruptly only to be replaced by a more barley flavor. Overall: The anchor porter is a really nice tasteful refreshing brew that I did enjoy greatly. It is a beer that brings foreword the sometimes over shadowed barley characteristics. I would give this beer a rating of excellent.

An amazing stout. Pour black with an awesome, pillowy head, which turns into nice lacing. Aromas are not significant at first...but as the beer warms notes of caramel and banana hit the nose. On the palate, espresso, followed by a nice sweetness...again, I get caramel and bananas. Nice slightly bitter finish. Amazing beer!!!

1 Pints 6 fl oz- Bottle- Poured into a Sniffer. Pour is Dark with a Dark tan head..The smell is roasted Malts and and chocolate with light toffee, Palate is well balanced flavor of Malts and chocolate, This is a damn good Porter..Not heavy or overpowering at all..Save a few swigs and Pour it over a bowl of Vanilla Ice Cream. It is amazing
