COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2006 One of the best porters, if not the best this mojoman has had. Rich with a nice burnt molasses taste. Especially fine with a good cigar.

Pours with a huge cream/tan colored, long-lasting head. Wonderful sweet chocolate aroma with hints of roasted malt. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate flavour to start with bitter roasted flavors to finish. A classic American porter.

Big roasty malt nose and a near-black color. Tastes of chocolate and carmel mixed with espresso undertones. The flavor profile on the brew lasts forever - seemed like it stayed in my mouth for a minute!. Started with a warm and full mouth feel that rose to the roof of my mouth. Went out with a gritty, bitter finish. Great stuff. Not good for making stout or porter pancakes, though. Anchor is just a damn good brewery. I like to drink heavy beers like this with light foods, like a salad, but this doesnt need any help - its a meal of its own.

Very nice porter. This was much better on tap than in the bottle. Nice beige head. This beer had more carbonation than most porters which was great by my accounts. Excellent flavor....sweetness, fruits. Went down smooth without a wince. RERATE: A New Year’s ’03 treat! This beer reminds me of talking to that hooker in Vegas for some reason. Anyways, I cant get over how great this beer pours....the way the thick head rushes to the top while the dark liquid cascades down through the head like water through a rocky stream. This run had notes of whiskey in the nose which I didnt catch last time. A very full and creamy brew which will always be welcome in my fridge.

Malty toasted nose. Deep black hue with a small fast diminishing light brown head. Has a slightly earthy hoppy taste with a chocolate and coffee after taste. This is a great full bodied and complex beer that is simply superb.
