COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Black licorice dominates the aroma, building anticipation for tasting. At least three flavors run a relay-race during the swallow: an initial candy sweetness, a strong hoppy middle, and a final and enduring roasted taste. Not to be wasted on unsophisticates.

Exceptional Porter! Aroma taunts with coffee and caramel with expresso tracings. Appearance is deep, dark and black. Flavor is what this beer is all about! Coffe, Toffee, and rich palate feel, just a joy to drink. I highly recommend this porter!

Wow! Poured an opaque black, with a thin tan head that left thick rings of lace on the glass. The aroma was a rich, thick, malty, sweet scent that hinted of coffee, licorice, chocolate, and perhaps plum, and it had me salivating from the start. Flavor was an amazing torrent of malty sweetness, providing a fruity tartness alongside an espresso bitterness, and this combination was nothing short of fantastic. Better yet was the mouthfeel; this is one of the smoothest beers I've ever had, especially for such a thick brew. It was exceptionally smooth and creamy, an absolutely delightful sensation. What an amazing beer!

One of my personal favorites. Creamy head and rich flavor without being too overpowering.

On tap at Allstars cafe, Bratislava. Almost black color with beige head. Aroma, chocolate, red fruits, spices. Taste, chocolate, later on coffee, roasted malt. Nice bittersweet finish. Great beer.

One of the most interesting north american porters I’ve ever had. One the one hand, you get the coffee/cacao robustness you expect, along with a refreshing hit of bitterness. The surprising and quite pleasing aspect that made this memorable was just how much flavor and texture this ale has while being so light on body and weight. I highly recommend all of the Anchor beers, but this one is the most interesting to me.
