This was unlike any porter I’ve ever had. Reminded me of Old Peculiar. Similar English malts producing subtle fruit flavors (plumbs, cherries, raisins). This one is tough to rate on just one bottle, but my overall impression is outstanding.

Another great one from Anchor. Explosives in aroma: dark malts, coffee, toffee, ginger, vanilla, chocolate. Beautiful creamy head with perfect lacing, dark brown to black color. Palate is oily with smooth carbonation, the taste is extremely complex from chocolate through smoke into ginger or caramelized fruits. I love how it reveals more and more layers of aroma when it warms. This must be great with raspberry or strawberry dessert. Pana cota perhaps?

Dark black with a dense brown head. Aromas of nice malt: caramel, smoky, chocolate, coffee, roasty with some notes of baked bread. A bit sweetness with a medium bitter, oily texture and flavours of vanilla (aftertaste) and licorice.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Amazingly thick and creamy head. Pitch black body. Sweet malty aroma. Initial taste is very sweet, ginger bread, nutty. Light coffee aftertaste, long bitter finish. The best part is the body, very creamy and thick. Overall an amazing porter. Balanced in every way.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a nice thick head. Aroma is pleasant but somewhat weak. Balanced with a smooth chocolately flavor and mild after taste. A good choice when you want "a few" good beers.

Nice chocolate warm aroma and favors. Some balsamic favors, I see the labe reads 10 months old. Nonetheless very smooth. Definitely more chocolate than coffee. Full velvety mouthfeel but not too heavy.

Bottle 12 fl. oz. Pours deep black, with thick, creamy beige head with gilded reflects. Amazing appearance! Aroma and taste: barley, hops, vanilla. Sweetness is well balanced and the alcohol is well hidden. Lively carbonation.

350ml bottle. This beer is black like oil. Flavour is nailed to the roasted mast. Can taste a lot of alcohol for the relative abv.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Twelve ounce bottle, pours dark with tan head. Aroma of sweet (banana). Taste is sweet and finish is light balanced and short. Not for those that like strong or heavy bitter porters. A porter if you are going to drink more than one.
